Daily Pics Vol. 137

Marlton, NJ

The upside down feeder has been such a hit with the American Goldfinch that I decided to buy a second one. I had so many more Goldies in the yard today it was really amazing. Here are the 2 feeders hanging up together from the same double shepheards hook. I scared a number of them away trying to get a shot.

Beautiful finch and mockingbird. I have only seen the one mockingbird here...wonder where they are?

That feeder is on my must have list...now to figure out the how...hmmmm

Marlton, NJ

I don't know; Mockingbirds were scarce for me too this year.

dang, gotta get me one of those upside downs!!! My plastic one is torn up from Mr. squirrel and they don't like my other one.

That site is great. My favorite has got to be the Laughing Kookaburra.

PERTH, Australia

Pelle, what beautiful shots of the Goldfinch and the Mockingbird. How often do you have to replenish the feeders?

gp, here's a shot of a Laughing Kookaburra from two days ago. I'd gone to the river to check out one of the trees where a particular Osprey hangs out and there were two of them having a chuckle. The juveniles make the most maniacal sound you'd ever here.

Hi Margaret, Every 2 days for some, longer for others.

In winter it will be alot more often.

PERTH, Australia

Hungry little blighters, aren't they?

This is a shot from around the same area I took the shots of the Kookaburra. You'll probably know by now that this is a Red Wattlebird. It was throwing its head back about to give one of its raucous calls.

Well did my morning walk and saw this warbler... Tenneessee?

Yep!
Quoting:
Dumb question...is this the same bird??

Same species, probably different individual - this one's a female, the first more probably a male.
Quoting:
judging by the yellow bill ... White Crowned Sparrow? ... Guess I should have put the pic in that last one, huh?

Female House Sparrow
Quoting:

Thanks for the Kookaburra pic, Margaret. They not only sound comical, they look comical. What a terrific selection of birds you get there. I got some shots this morning, nothing spectacular. Grackle first.

Wonderful birds Nanny, gp and burn.  I had a great day at the swamp yesterday but haven't finished sorting through them yet.  Here's a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets that have taken up residence in a nesting hollow they've nicked from some other less aggressive parrot.

Nice pic, Margaret. I have been seeing a lot of Grackles with missing tail feathers. Maybe it's molting time?
