What? They don't have fall in California!! We used to plant things like pistachio to remind us of the fall colors in the rest of the world.
This is the Manistee River back home in Michigan.
"Fall" is coming
Beautiful picture, Gloria. Sure we have fall - my allergies tell me so! It's all relative, you know. :-)
hahaha -- Welp, actually here the black locusts are lovely as they sprinkle their yellow leaves in the breeze...... but I know what you mean about seasons. South a ways it is pretty clear, there is the dry season and the rainy season. Here I cannot figure out yet if it is even that clear cut, seems just dry and hot or dry and cold........ but there has definitely been a shift, and that snow on the slopes is somehow very satisfying to gaze at.
Pretty river......
weegy, thx for the welcome. :-D
Welcome Kyla ! It's great that you are jumping right in and posting.
Back to nice weather again. That rain was much too short.
The birch trees are beginning to turn and the squirrels are beginning to steal the fuyu persimmons. I trimmed the tree back significantly last year because it was breaking. I don't know if the squirrels will leave me any this year. I do love my fuyus.
I divided some hakone grass this weekend and made a border up the curb by my house. It's looking pretty good. Here's hoping the grass will get enough water there. I need to order dahlias too. That's always a good sign for fall.
I had to wash my car today after that little sprinkly rain. I'd parked it under my 50-or-so-year-old Fruitless Mulberry tree. Can you even imagine how dusty those huge leaves are and how much mud they dropped on that car???
Temperatures still lovely today and expected to stay in the 80's in the Central Valley of California . . . Fresno . . . zone 8 or 9a, whatever you choose to use.
We have seasons. I know we do. I have two Fruitless Mulberries, almost as old as I am, which drop those silly leaves all over the place for two months. And then there's the Modesto Ash . . . . And, oh, never mind! We have seasons!
Comfort to all,
Linda
Oh, and don't forget that those redwood trees are dropping their mess all over. It's a good thing that it happens only once a year. I have little long-haired dogs so I have to pick it all up and bag it. The trees are worth it though. They are over 50 years old.
And clearly the little long-haired dogs are worth it, as well, Doss!
Definitely well worth it. :-) They make me smile a lot of the time. Silly dogs.
Happy Fall, California!
Cool pics from Shasta,
We have an itinerant mongrel by that name who eats couches. We named her because she has a white head (no need for proactiv) and our love for that seismic lump that is often covered with snow.
We are having some warmth during the day that confuses the Hakea out of our tropicals. One should note that California is truly a land of many lands.
Thanks for the pics of very cool colors Blooms, we'll go brown soon. Our time for color is as long as our spring....about an hour or so.
best to all..........and yes, it was Karl......or Harpo.....I forget, which one wrote, and which one spoke?
