Couple years ago I bought a small seedling of lantana, and started out to make it a standard lollipop.
Well when the trunk got to be 2 ft or better,I planted it in the ground this april,it has flowered everyday, and the lollipop top which was a foot across at the most is about 6ft x8ft now.
I had know Idea it could grow like that!
Who Knew??
Way cool tropicman!!! Can you winter it over outside?
Nice Tropicman. I've seen some down here that get that big and they are always loaded with butterflies.
I wish I could,definitely tropical.
Yep my one only monarch seem to hover around it constantly!
So whatch gonna do tropicman for the winter? Are you gonna dig it up and make space in the greenhouse? Sheesh snoopy minds need to know these details ^_^
Yep,in a couple weeks I'll start digging up plants around 50 or so to dig up,I'll give lots away this year for I took one greenhouse and made it a propagation house,if you go to propagation forum you can see some pics, and it almost full now.
Oh my goodness ...just as well you have snow Tm, that lantana is a terrible weed here ...it covers vast areas of natural bushlands and overuns the native plants ...it is a pretty thing though and looks great in your garden ...here when we look down into valleys of it the first thought that comes to mind is YIKES!
Hope all is going well for your winter preparations ...Spring is here and we will hit 34/35C on Thursday ...too hot already!
Hi Chrissy,
Still have a lot to dig up yet,as these plants get larger, they need bigger pots and more soil, and it takes a little longer than it use too!!!
I say yikes too!!!Plant just keeps getting bigger everyday!!!
Butterflies seem to enjoy it.
