Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 13
Fantastic, Pelle. What shutter speed did you use?
beautiful
Thank You!
shutter speed was 1/1000 and ap. was f 8
Wow, Pelle, that gives a good idea of how fast those precious little birds wings are going as you can still see movement (of the wings) at 1/1000th. The iridescence on her back is intense.
I know I wish I would have had the ss higher but I didn't know how it would turn out.
I think the average times they beat their wings is 50 times per second and it can be as high as 80 times.
Pelle, I like the movement. Their metabolic rate must be through the roof. I wonder what their heartbeat is.
I like them nanny! Especially the second one.
Margaret in a Blue-throated Hummingbird a heart rate of1260 beats per minute and in torpid hummingbirds it can drop to 50-180 beats a minute. Pretty amazing.
nanny, they're lovely. We kinda cross posted.
Pelle, it's astonishing that something can go that fast. Just imagine trying to defibrillate that!
Nice pics Mrs Ed; she's very cute!
Beautiful pics nanny!
Great pics everyone!
wow. look at the shine on her.
beautiful.... I am glad to report I still have a few hanging around... happy they didn't leave me yet
Nice pic nanny! Did you plant the B&B or put it in a pot?
nanny, Lots of puffys, I think they were trying to preserve there warmth in the cold rain.
