She's About To..........#14

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Good one, Louise. :)

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hangapot is a bracket for pots. So the bug is on a post up high it was a tip cutting..I saw another DGer with one in a hanging pot but mines does not spill out like that one did..grows straight up.. oh well nice experiment anyway : )

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Kim, thanks, I thought it was something like that. I saw that hanging basket brug post, good gosh, now I suppose I'll HAVE to beg a cutting from that hanging brug! lol I'll work on it, ;) then I can share some with ya. Experiments are fun.. and you still have a nice brug.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

No problemo!! I have another one that spills more with one bud. I have a question i have a brug tagged Cherub that did not bloom last year..is it normal for them???

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I'm not sure on Cherub.. I've a plant with Charles Grimaldi on the tag and it didn't bloom for 3 years, while others get him to bloom at 3 ft. so I wonder if it depends on the individual cutting or plant.. ? Some brugs are just more stubborn than others?? lol

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Ok it's a lil over 6ft and has a Y...might get chopped lol! I'm signing off Gnight Hotties ZZzzzzzzzzz........

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I'm sorry Kim, now that I think about it.. did you mean you've had it for seasons, blooming and then it didn't bloom at all one season? I went back over to Dot's basket thread and some of our hotties already been over there and seen it.. Taylor Dawn, I wonder how tall it will get? I'm researching.. curious about that little brug.. so cute and petite.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

goodnight Kim! I saw that hanging pot brug post too and was wondering if they were breeding brugs to grow flat like that. All mine are tall monsters.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

ROTF here too..LOL MAN... I SWEAR.. I AINT been hitting the liquor!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Becky!! You did it!! That IS a very great shot! It's big too when I click on it!!! YAY!! (whistling and clapping) You sure on the liquor part? lol

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL... maybe that's it.. maybe I NEED the liquor to get this "stuff" straight!! I have been having trouble with IE too!! Just a BAD night!!..lol I did reduce that butterfly pic to 30% and it took forever to get here.. but at least it's right.. right?? I haven't checked
Bonnie... LOL.. I haven't shown the memory garden pic yet.. tomorrow I'll take some more pics and see if I can figure this mess out. You'll see what I mean about everything being small.. Louise will have to get her magnifying glass back out to look at those pics..LOL

YAY.. finally.. that pic looks good.. I checked!! Maybe I know what I did, cause I took that pic a couple weeks ago.. I chased that BF all over the yard..LOL, and it never would quit fluttering..

Thanks for hanging in there with me..LOL maybe now I am back on track.. hehe.. well I said maybe!!

Morining Hotties

I’m up, I have power, I have sun, and I have warm but breathable air. Have not been out the door yet but from the window things don’t look to bad. I can see one downed sunflower and some very rain smooched grasses. Lots of tree limbs, but hay I’m in the woods. I need lots of coffee, and then I will go check on the masses, start the untipping and get my poor babies out of the shed before it is 150 degrees in there. Sound like fun, huh.
Becky, you did it! The B-fly pix came great. Yay
Kim, hope that little burggie is okay after her fall.
AuntB, I going have to take begging lesson from you. So many prettys out there.
Hope all is well this morning.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Yeah, Donna glad everything is good....

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Morning Hotties!!! Glad your good Donna : ) Hope everyone esle is too!! The brug that fell is fine. But I have kiwi vines on a trellis that blew over and broke the tops of a brug that was about to ; ( whaaaaa. Any who I wiil see if they will root. So all in all not to bad : )

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Good morning! I'm glad the first look wasn't too scary. I'm having choc/caramel creamer in my coffee this morning.. It's cool out here, fog is clearing and it's still cloudy and gloomy. Drew's fav weather day.. I've had enough gloom for a while.. but my mood is still good, my friends are safe from storms (if only for a few days before Ike makes his entrance)..I'm blessed and the sun is shining in my heart.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Kim sorry about the plants colliding.. it's good to get cuttings, but I'm sure you'd rather done it yourself. Lavender, WHERE did your Sis get the batwing??? Does she have a pic.. Louise's sis?? Are you lurking out there? I wanted one for years but never have sprung the $$ when I see them available online.. is that sis of your's coming to the RU?? I'm excited to meet you and new DG'ers and DG'ers I have met. Only snag I could have is if the weather threatens frost and I would need to be hauling stuff in. I may forgo the Powell garden trip the next day and make that the fall haul day, but we will see as it draws closer.. Joyce, you had enough gloomy?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi AuntB the thing that has me going is that I will have to cut the kiwi off the trellis I was hoping for fruit next year ...well maybe lol!!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Aw, Kim.. so sorry, maybe that will scare it into fruiting next year... I need to get dressed and make a couple rounds out there while it's not raining.. such a lazy weekend for me.. feels good but I need to get some stuff ready for the MWru later this month.. and start readying for the haul. Also need to ready some brug stuff for trades and postage.. I have lil plumies in the dining room, they look so cute sitting there all together.. I'll grab some big begonias I don't want bug eaten or broken by winds so I'll be eased into fall mode before the brugs make the move.. it's always the saddest day when the brugs are all stripped and setting there looking naked.. but that's a few weeks away, I won't think about that part of it.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

No worries a columnar apple would fit nicely in it's spot!!! AuntB relax and enjoy the day. I'm off to WM with DH..TTYL : )

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Buenos Dias Hotties! The sun is out and beautiful, and the storm is gone. Have not checked on my babies yet, hopefully everything will be fine but who knows. I do see a lot of leaves on the ground. The brugs if I loose one I will cry and cry. Kimm poor thing, I hear you with your kiwi vine, maybe you will still get fruit next year. I am worry about my dragon fruit vine, I really hope that it did not break. WIll find out until later when I get to that house!
Hi Happgarden, nice to hear everything is good for ya!
Donna, praying that you did not loose your babies either.
Hi Bonnie, I see you finally catched up, you are so good.
Hey Beckie, nice butterfly pic, you are beoming a true expert now!
Anyway, late start over here, we'll be back later but I am wishing everyone a great Sunday! Love to all, Clem

New Burggie Home on the lower level, there is no level ground down here and the microclimate is not good. We will have to keep a close watch on them

Donna, you good lil brug mom, look at that! Looks very similar to my set up, but mine is red. I bought one those trailers from Tractor Supply, less than $100 and it's about 4 times the size of your wagon.. might look into it.. (lot less trips.. ) I do have a wagon like that on my Christmas list. Sure hope I've not been too bad this year.. I can just see that wagon sitting under the tree on Christmas morning all shiny and a big red bow. Here I thought you had a big ol John Deere and a hay wagon! lol You are a determined woman, I can tell. I have to say, the sun is trying, there is blue sky out there the size of a Dutchman's pants, so it should clear off nicely! Clemen, good thoughts coming your way on your plants.. enjoy your day! My Grandma Seastrom was very superstitious.. she said if a cloudy sky has a clear spot, big enough to make a Dutchman a pair of pants it would go ahead and clear off. Now, she didn't say how big the Dutchman was.. lol

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Oh please do not abort. NOL, only five buds left out of twelve. But she’s about to……

That’s it for now, out to the front I go to raise the masses. So sad about he Kiwi and the broken Burg Kim. Hope there is more damage for anyone.

Aw, Donna, how lovely they look in their matching pots all lined up.. you work well with what you have there, Donna.. seems like we just make the best of our situation and find what works.. I'm thinking of a couple additional raised beds as all I have is clay and rocks.. but I'm fortunate to have some level ground. Might just be a dream, but I hope to someday. And a hottie's gotta have dreams! I could sure utilize some space for a veg garden with groceries skyrocketing. What?? I can't believe I said that... a new bed for....... veggies???

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Refresh me Donna, lol The buds on NOL are dropping because of winds or just dropping? Might need to go out on the forum and inquire.. it may be normal till she matures a bit.. The plant and the buds look so healthy. I'm really enjoying the pics.. let's see more.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

The big trailer is behind the shed with 2 flat tires. Sears want $50 bucks each for the tires, I only paid $129 for that the trailer with tires on it. This little trailer you see in the pix I got at WM, last season clearance for $25 so when the tires go I’ll just trash it.

BBL, hi ho, hi ho, off to work I go. Yup, I am solar powered.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Louise, oh, Louise

Is this a bud on my moonflower vine? This is my first season with these guys.

Good morning, Hotties! I am finally finished with all that sewin..been playing in the dirt this weekend.... fixing up more plants to divide..but gotta wait and see what the next storm do before I plant anything out...cuz I would have to stake them to keep them from blowing over...sigh...
My MEM was blooming some white and the rest are pink?? have no clue why it did that!!

Good morning everyone. Glad the storms didn't do too much damage. Now we wil all be watching Ike!
We were talking yesterday (I think) about how to store tuberoses etc. I dmailed Bill and asked. Copying his reply below.

The most common way "I've heard" in regards to storing caladium bulbs is to store them in a paper or mesh bag filled w/ sphagnum moss or something similar. You do want to let them cure for about 5-7 days before storing them. To cure them, just lay them out(without touching each other if possible) in a place where they'll get good air circulation.
If they're in pots, leave them planted and bring the pots indoors. You'd want to sprinkle the pot with "a little" water about once a month. When they dig up the Tuberose down here(beginning of Nov.) the bulbs are stored in huge trays in a barn with good air circulation. The barn is kept at about 65 degrees

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I am so glad my hottie sisses don't have too much damage!! Donna you are super woman, you and Bonnie. Running a lawn tractor and hauling those brugs around. Donna that is a bud on your moonflower! The seed pods look the same as they swell. Moonflower vines are a pain in the waiting but so worth it when they start blooming.
Bonnie my sis got her batwing at a place in Omaha called Mulhalls nursery. Biggest dang nursery I have ever seen in my life. That place is awesome. She got it for 50 percent off. Even my hubby likes that place and he would rather be skinned alive than set foot in a nursery. She won't be at the roundup, she has another gig. If I get to mulhalls again before the RU I will get a batwing for you if they have any more. Mulhalls is nice for the selection of oddball stuff they get. They did have hilo beauty mismarked as illustris though. Right now all their stuff is on sale for the end of the season. They have gigantic hib shrubs too.
Nadine I love that picture!
We finally got a really nice rain last night and everything looks ok except those tall hibs that got pushed over. Sending out good wishes and blessings to all my hotty sisses!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

cat, I just pull up the tuberoses and store them in a box. cut the tops off. They do great with absolutely no losses. I keep them in a 40ish mudroom. When I left them in the pot one year they rotted. I lost all my singles that way.

(Cathy), MO

Are tuberoses a bulb? The ones I got this spring were more like a clump of roots.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

They look like a clump of smaller bulbs to me. You can separate the bulbs to plant them too though. Earl may here sells them as individual bulbs for a ridiculous price. You can buy huge clumps online for the same price.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Burg heeellllllllllppppp please,
All my babies that I flipped look like this, some are worst, this was the easiest to get a photo.

Okay, dumb question here? Is a Caladium and a Turberose the same plant? I have Caladiums, I am clueless as to what = Turberose.

TY Lousie I was hopping that was a bud cause I got lots of them, Yay.

Beautiful MEM Nadine

Hey, That’s my sock, gimme. No way, mine.

Taken a break, just a cute one I took this morning.

Getting up there in years but they still love to play.

This is why I have no socks that match!
