Need help with dragon Palm

Kennewick, WA

Hello

I have been given what I was told is a Dragon Palm. There are 3 trunks 2 of which are almost 7 feet tall and the other is about 4 feet. I remember reading some time ago that you could cut a section and plant it. the top new piece then getting roots and the bottom peice cut off of would then continue to grow. i was wondering if anyone had any information on this process as I would like to bring the overall height down a bit and get another pot going. These plants are so pretty!

Thanks

I think you are talking about Draceana Marginata. When you cut a stalk it will produce two new shoots at that spot. The tops can be rooted in a pot of rooting mix covered with a clear plastic bag,but the preferred method is too cut a slit about halfway through the stalk and pack it with damp (not wet) moss.Wrap the cut area in clear plastic. When you see several new roots forming, remove it from the mother plant and plant it.Let me know if you need that explained more thoroughly.
