How and when to plant Moon flowers

Indianola, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi, I am new here and would like some information. I have just been given some moon flower seeds. I have never grown these before. They are the plants, not the vines. When do I plant them, and do you soak them in water like the morning glory seeds? Thanks for any info you can give.

Hi DEBBIEK! In your zone I would wait to plant the seeds until late this winter, March or April. Than you can put them outside for next summer. Here is a thread about growing the seeds http://davesgarden.com/showthread/79436.html

Are there any tricks to getting them goin?? I have grown them two years in a row...started them in early spring...and they are just now setting buds. They are in a container so I can bring them in. I have heard that they really like to be oplanted in the ground...I guess most plants would rather be grounded.
