What do I do to save corn seed for next year? I m new at this...
Is there any special way to save corn to reseed next year?
If you are growing a single open pollinated cultivar, Just let the desired number of ears dry most of the way on the stalk. Pull and put in a dry open air space to finished drying. Afetr a couple of weeks, shell it out and store till next year. Hybrids or cross pollinated corn works the same way, but you may have surprises next year.
Thanks I will try it, corn is getting so expensive to buy seed.
This place is such a help, wish I had found it years ago!!! Thanks Again...
My neighbor stored his seed in a mason jar with a mothball to keep bugs from eating the seed. For myself, i would dust the seed with Diatomaceous Earth.
