What is this, and how come it changed its genes?

This first pic is what they looked like in 2005 growing on a caribbean island.

And this is what it looks like now. It seems that leaves changed a little bit.

unfortunately, I now only have the red one. Is there anyway to produce flowers like the ones that I have in the first picture? they don't produce seeds at all.

It looks a lot like a type of Purslane.

I think they must be reseeding, otherwise I don't know how the flowers and leaves would have changed. Plus I think they're annuals pretty much in any zone so I don't think the original plants would survive from year to year (I could be wrong, but anywhere I've seen info on these they're always listed as annuals rather than tropical/tender perennials)

they have no seeds, they are similar to portulaca.

they are so easy to grow, i just cut the stems, and stick them in the soil, they will grow. they grow as fast as the weeds. during the winter time, most of the branches will die. then new ones will grow out from the same stem next year. they grow way faster than portulaca.
