Thanks evie for the new thread...aside from the juve RBW on the last thread we also had a Northern Flicker yesterday morning. Showed up at the same time as the juvie RBW too!

Lots of House Sparrows this year..last year we had very few.

White-breasted Nuthatches are becoming regular visitors again!

Bsharf, cardinals are so fun to watch. If it's not their bathing antics then they are finding some gigantic bug in your garden that you didn't even know existed!

I was meeting a friend for lunch on the water yesterday, and he surprised me with his new boat! We had such a blast exploring the bayous. It's kind of hard to take pictures from a boat though since it's rocking all the time. We saw one Roseate Spoonbill but it was too far away. Here's a Great Egret. Not too exciting but somewhat in focus!

I was going to post this on the bird ID forum, but I'm feeling so hot and lazy! I'm just going to make a wild guess and let Resin correct me if I'm wrong! I'm guessing an immature Tricolored Heron?

Nice photos everyone .... Yesterday, I visited a pond that had a family of Little Blue Herons. It included one adult and five youngsters. I stayed there for about an hour and everyone that stopped by said "look at those Egrets". I find the color difference between the adult and young quite fascinating. It's hard to believe that a bird as white as the immature Little Blue Heron could turn into the mostly blue adult.

Here is a photo taken at some distance of the adult on the left and the immature Little Blue Heron on the right. A Great Blue Heron is behind the white immature Little Blue Heron.

Here is a closer photo of an immature Little Blue Heron. I have a difficult time photographing white birds in bright sunlight.

And, here is a closer look at the adult Little Blue Heron ........

At the same sitting, I photographed this Osprey sitting in a tree at the edge of the pond.

Methodical, your Tricolor Heron looks like the one in my book! I was guessing on mine because I saw three that day but they were all juvi ones and they didn't look anything like the picture! Your shots are gorgeous.

Great Blue Heron -- not a great shot, but as long as I'm posting...

The Belted Kingfisher at the pond is letting me get closer, as long as I stay in the car.

Going into town yesterday, I spotted this Bald Eagle in a tree above the river. As I was out to get shots, a school bus went by, so I pointed up at the eagle. The driver pulled over so the youngsters on board could see too.

Sorry it's not sharper. As soon as I raised the camera it decided to take flight.
