ummmm surprise me Karen LOL

BECKY!!!!!!!!!!!! bout time you show up *S* we just had rain and some wind but in town some trees went down taking out power in some areas

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I'll try to bring you a little of each if I can

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Well I am alive and well. I lost a roof off of my travel trailer that was built over it and covered the porch. I had several shrubs leaned over and completely uprooted. I even had small plants uprooted. I have such soil that you can just pull things up at almost anytime as some of you know. Well that is not so good when it is being pounded with rain and being blown by hard winds.

I never in my wildest dreams thought that moving here from Orange, Tx I would ever be affected by a hurricane. WRONG!

We got lights back on yesterday evening!! Yeah! My four children all living within storm areas are okay. One son and his family are here and will be here for quite a while as his town was greatly damaged. My other son who lives in Vidor owns a service station and invested in a commercial generator has the only gas and 7-11 type store open. He has no employees in town, so he is working as many hours as he can and is sleeping in the store when he can. People threaten to kill him when he gets so exhausted that he has to close for a while to sleep. When he opens he says the lines are so long he can't see the end. His family is in Dallas. My oldest daughter who lives in Houston is staying with a friend until she is able to return home. My youngest daughter lives at home with us. My 81 year old mother evacuated from Orange to my disabled sister's home in Houston. They finally got lights on late last night. They can't get out of the subdivision due to standing water. My sister's husband was working at a hospital and has had a problem with a heart arythmia and was put in ICU. Sis couldn't get to him to be with him.
He has been released and is at my niece's home who by the way is 8 1/2 months pregnant. Two baby showers have been canceled due to the storm and the little mom has been in a panic because she was afraid of going into labor and having to have a baby at home with only her husband and father in law who happens to be a veteranarian. She kept saying she wasn't going to let her father in law help her even if she died cuz she wasn't letting him see her hoohaw!

All is well as Rachel (the niece) didn't go into labor. She has lights back on now and her father in law has gone to help with animal care of animals in the rescue shelter in Houston.

All in all we all survived and are so much more fortunate than many others.

I am glad to hear from Becky. I hope others faired as well as she and I did.

Charlene

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

How far is longview from tyler

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I found it and my aunt lives tyler and my daughter is going to longview on about a week.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

"She kept saying she wasn't going to let her father in law help her even if she died cuz she wasn't letting him see her hoohaw!"

ROTFLMAO Charlene, hahahahaha that sounds like something I'd say. I don't blame her! So glad your family and you are well. We are are blessed to be safe but this cleanup is a pain in the bazook, isn't it?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Woo Hoo... I get to meet her first... nananana.

I'd be out digging up the cannas but I've come down with some strange and rare ailment of the tummy... probably some unknown strain of virus nobody knows about yet (or just a 24 hour bug)... but, I'm sure I'll be all well tomorrow...

Tina, I'll save that fabric for you until you come down... I'm in no hurry for it.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Okie Dokie that will work. Feel better hun.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Þ~~~~~~~~~~ BJ LOL ...get better quick

Eyes...bummer but understand take care and dont over do it cleaning up things

I need some serious ideas on what is a good shade tree that is fast growing and roots will go deep???
or tree in front is leaning so much that the rope swing is now down as it was almost touchin the ground
DH is going to take some heavy branches off to try and save it some from going over but we need to plant to replace it as it will have to go I'm afraid...as I bet some roots are under the house foundation

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Eye, so sorry your not going to make the round up. Hopefully we will meet at another one?

BJ, So sorry to hear your notfeeling well, Did you get ahold of Marion's salad? LOL
I do hope your feeling better soon..

I heard the arizona ash is a fast growing shade tree. We have two of them in our yard, and they grow pretty good.

Linda Kay

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Aw Eyes, we will sure miss you. Take it easy on the cleanup. Phyllis what about Redbud? My Grannie swore by them for quick fast shade. Tia are the the one that had to have your brother sit for your Dad? He's going to be able to do it for 2 weeks then...That's good. Or I may sure be mistaken, it might be Linda Kay?.....Oh poop, I'm always confused ☺

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Linda Kay

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I remember someone has a dad they take care of, just not me.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Must be someone else then. You were the one who is house sitting for your Mom and was waiting to see if you brother could do it.....I remember now. Got CRS these days, LOL!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yep yep that is me, mow my kids are gonna do it. My brother went to Iraq.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It might have been Linda Kay (taters55)... her dad was with her before she had foot surgery. But now her dad is with her sister, while she is having her feet operations. No operation is going to keep her down, she's still coming to the RU.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yeah, it is probably me, Just not thinking clearly, too many vicadin!!! LOL
Bj, how ya doing today?
Better I hope.
Linda Kay

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Doing better right now... should be but a memory by tomorrow...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear that. Take care
Linda Kay

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ok what is this??? ROFL
I got it at one of the ru's but sang If I remember who it come from and just what it is...need to find out so I knwo what to do come cold weather and cuttings

Thumbnail by Mibus2
(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

its pretty. I have no clue.

Gilmer, TX

Those are torenia Mibus. When cold weather comes they will just die. Be sure to make the pot or spot, because they are free seeders and will be back next year. I don't think they would do cuttings. They are one of my favorite flowers, they have such happy little faces. Glad you are enjoying them.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey everyone... lost the phone since yesterday.. been going crazy..
Charlene.. sure hate you have damage!! Sounds almost like you have "people" damage more than material damage..hehe.. had a huge tree fall on Mommas house.. not too bad, cept the clean up. Our storm door is on the porch.. other than that.. just the $#! clean up..LOL NO electricity for a month.. now that is the worst part!! TG for the camper and generator, so we are fairing ok!
Yeah for Tia.. soo glad you are making both RU's!!
BJ hoping you are better now!!
Loves to all of you!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I am Beck... thank you...
Even got out and enjoyed this cool weather today and dug in the yard.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

thanks P for the name to them ...I noticed they seemed to spread out and when I looked under them it seems that some of the longer "stems" are rooting in the ground too that is why I asked about cuttings LOL but the spot they are in is good if the seed freely I won't mind if they take over that spot LOL

we have to start planning on replacing the tree in front of the house as it is leaning towards the road now ..DH tried to fil in the dirt behind it to try and help it stay a bit longer and cut alot of branches off the leaning side to help balance it out some too so I am on a mission to find a yellow poplar tulip tree and a summer red maple for the front yard now LOL
