Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor what kind of abelia is that?
DB i really do not fertilize the knockout roses - that one is a low grower and really likes where it is at. I have three sedums in front of it and have to keep moving the branches away. think i'll have to expand the bed. chipmunks ate the giant sunflowers i was hoping for this year - have to give them another shot next year and keep the coyote sent near by.
shelly great view of the horizon and mountains - you really get some great shots out there!!

Don't remember, Bill. I'll try to find out.

My QOTN finally bloomed, only to have the camera batteries die whilst snapping!

:-)

Good thing there's next year? eh ......

A couple of rainy day pictures, first the view from the dining room. I'm planning on blocking most of the view of the neighbor's house w/i a couple years. I have a blue bird rose of sharon to the left of the play house, you can just see.

And from the living room window where I stare out a lot of the winter, off the corner of the deck is Artic Fire red twig dogwood, and in front of that some astible for winter interest.

Thanks JoAnn
Very interesting WNYWB!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Debi ..... you have a nice view there! If you look out there in winter time, do you have evergreens out there? I have been looking at some junipers and cedars to use as a screen from my neighbors.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, actually to the left and right of that picture are evergreens, one is an arborvite, don't know what the other is.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

RC, what a beautiful vista you captured. Everyone's blooms look great. WNY, what is QOTN? (queen ot the night?) Such an interesting bloom!
Deb and Gram, your gardens look wonderful. I have a few things still going on as summer winds down. This is clematis virginiana which is terrific if your looking for a fast fence cover.

A dahlia! I think it's Who Dun It. No staking needed.

Yes, venu .... That is a shot of my Epiphyllum oxypetalum. They are a fragrant sight, for sure.

My E. hookeri (or strictum) has buds set, too. They are still quite small yet.

Leaves make new plants practically by dropping them on dirt.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Another dahlia. Crazy Love...I might have those two names mixed up.

WNY, do you bring them in for the winter?
Agastache rupestris, looks like a soft sunset

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, they are tropicals that I keep in the greenhouse and let summer outside.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I think I'll have to try that one even though I am a self professed indoor plant killer :(

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

Adorable video!
Thanks!

Deb, Allison and Jan - Thanks! The flowers have now gotten quite a bit bigger, so they are pretty cool looking at the top of the garden. I saw a young deer come into the meadow and walk up near the sunflowers. He looked up at them and then just walked away. LOL

RedChic - The variety of sunflower is called "Giant". We've grown them before, but this year they reached their full height as given on the package.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Speaking of deer, sorry no video.
My sister saw a doe laying on the ground this spring, back of her yard. She figured there was a fawn but there were two fawns with her after all summer.
People next door have a cat who strolled up to the fawns and introduced itself.
The gamboling and jumping and playing that ensued was priceless.Mother watched while the cat and fawns tore up the place.
