Approaching fall, still have lots of blooms. We'll see more fall color creeping in. Here is Ligularia Brit-Marie Crawford.

Great pics, Allison---loved the hummers! Debi---turkey vultures are huge & ugly looking! We had 1 in the yard last month eating a woodchuck that managed to get under the fence--don't know if the pointer killed him, or he died a natural(I hope) death. But we are also starting to see black vultures here---smaller, & they'll eat live stuff. Ugh! Here is a white phlox that's done very well this summer.

I believe turky vultures have a wing span of six feet.
The bird book is in the other room.

I've been so out of touch for the past couple of days. It never ceases to amze me how everyone's gardens seem to fill up over night and I get to glide through on a breeze and look at all the beautiful blooms.

Congratulations, Dayne, on the best cultivation of Veronica that I have ever seen! She's so adorable. What a sweet family!

all beautiful today!

We had a group of turkey vultures feasting on some road kill in front of our house, they were using our roof as a landing strip. They are downright UGLY!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Here are two of three that were on my roof a couple of years ago.

they look so prehistoric ... ity bity heads on that big ole body

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Their faces always looked not quite fully formed to me. And a little burned to boot.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

You should post that shot, Victor, on the bird watching daily pics thread!

Anyone else been avoiding outside due to mosquitoes? They are downright brutal this year. I can't even fill the birdfeeders w/o getting at least 2 bites and killing another. And that's barely off my deck. Walking in the grass is just asking for it.

Anyway, I have some new rudbeckia in bloom. I forget the names.

Here's a shot of monarda and rudbeckia, though I didn't take it for the flowers. See if you can find the visitor.

Here's a shot from the other side (with my neighbor's lovely swing set in the background...grr). And this is a better shot of the visitor.

Beautiful combination Evee.I like the longer shots of the whole plant.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

evie - if you can remember the names it would be great. very interested in replacing the normal BES with a more interesting variety.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Geez, what is wrong with me today? I swear I replied. I guess I typed it up and didn't hit submit???

It is Gardenview Scarlet, though it is not very red!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Oh, and if anyone hasn't found the "visitor" in the shots, I'll give you a hint...it has green and has wings.

I had a visitor in my pool. Poor thing was sitting on a 'noodle'. We haven't seen many frogs so I was glad to see him, but he sure didn't belong in my pool LOL. I fished him out with my skimmer and sent him on his way. I think he is a Northern Leopard frog.

My Mother's Day gift. This basket just gets better & better. Funny thing is, there is a sweet potato vine planted in the top, I assume to help cover the bare stems later in the season. It hasn't grown one iota. It's still alive, just doesn't grow. Maybe there are just no room for it's roots in the pot.

this is one of the 12 Roseberry Blanket plants I got from J&P on sale. they are planted on a new bed that's just a strip across the lakeside.

For some reason my posts are not getting posted. I don't know why! Maybe three times is the charm??

The monarda is Gardenview Scarlet, though is is purple and not red!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Oh, wait, my last one did get through. Redchic - it was a few above yours. For some reason when I looked I didn't see it. I must be losing it!! :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice sedum shot, Sherry. Nice frog and hummer shots, Jan.
