Problems with Front Page

I'm having problems with my Main Page on DG. The only thing I see on my Main Page are my Watched Forums (which are only 2 at this point). For the past 4-5 days, I cannot see the different threads that everyone post minute by minute, which really help because you can learn a lot from the info/questions posted.

I have emailed the Admin but the directions she gave (and I tried to do) has not changed anything. The following are the instruc she gave. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem????

You can actually customize this to suit your specific needs if you so
wish.

go to 'My Info' at the top of the home Page. Click on that, and then
click 'Preferences' This will take you to the basic page that most DG
folks are familiar with. It looks like you have already worked with
that feature.

you can then go to the right hand side of the page and in the column
there you will see a list of options. The 'forum' option is easy. You
just click or unclick from the list which forums that you want to
appear on your home page. These will always show up when you log on to DG. You can also customize how you want your home page to look. This is called the 'Custom Menu'

By playing around here, you can move the different features around on
your home page in different positions. This can get a bit confusing,
so make a note where your settings were before you start moving things
around. This way, you can put it all back to where you started if you
decide that is what you want.

When working with your custom menu, check your home page after change to see if you like the result.

Try going to "my info", then "manage preferences", then "customize home page", here you'll see a list of all the possible features you could have on your home page--chances are the things you are missing are currently disabled, so to see them again all you have to do is change them from disabled to some position (position #1 is the top of the page, etc so you can choose what order you want things in; wide things like lists of forums and threads should always be in column 1 but you can put them in a higher or lower position so they're in whatever order you want.) As the previous mail said though I'd write down where everything is before you start so that you can put things back if something gets really messed up while you're playing around.

Hi Von219. I haven't had any trouble at all. Im still fairly new here, but the Admin's instructions are exactly how I do it.

Go to the "Home" page.
Click on "My Info" at the top of the page (under all the Tabs )
The first big box on that page is "Your Actions"
At the bottom of that box is "Manage your Preferences"
Click on that- it takes you to the "Preferences: Main" page
My Navigation box is on the right-Yours can be on the right or left
Under "Preferences" go down to "Forums"
That takes you to the "Preferences: Forums" page
Just read the instructions and that should do it.
Let me know if it works, k?

Ecrane3 is probably right. I'll bet that's what it is. Good Luck!

You might be right too--it depends on what von's trying to do. Your instructions are how you add more forums to your watch list on the home page, my instructions are for if you want other things on your home page besides just your watched forums.

YEAH!!!!! My Front Page Is BACK........thank you guys for taking the time to give me step by step instructions!!!!

It was just fine until a few days ago.....and it changed on its own....as far as I know.....I don't ever remembering seeing that page (where you mark what things you want on your main page. How it got changed is beyond me.

Thanks again guys. Von

YAY!!! I'm so glad for you! You are very welcome. I don't know how that could have happened either? Glad it's back though :)

If it was just the recent threads that was missing then that's something that Dave did--initially he enabled the feature for everyone, but then some people were getting confused by it so then he switched it so it was automatically disabled and you have to go in and turn it on. But that shouldn't have affected anything else on your page, just the recent threads section.
