Ed our Ruby-throated Hummingbird...looking at little rough around the edges yesterday afternoon.

Methodical, the swan is beautiful. That's a wonderful pic.

Wonderful shots, nanny. I've noticed in numerous images that the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds have a white crescent somewhere on or around their eyes. Any idea what purpose this serves?

Well both are part of the wildlife food chain so just try to keep that in mind. :-)

And another of my finches. this one is hanging onto the side of my screened porch. I placed the Mobi mesh feeder near the porch so that I could get some close up shots. Maybe he's confused and thinks the screen has some nyjer seeds in there.

Margaret, I dream of a bird of prey shot like your Osprey. That is just AMAZING!!

I have two of Australian birds here. This morning, there were two parakeets in my backyard. One was almost completely white with just a blue spot on the rump and this is the other one which was mostly blue. Someone must have gotten tired of having them as pets.

Great pics everyone, I have been having computer problems and still having some with my connection on the new one.

Elphaba, lovely bird, it looks like a Budgie to me, they can escape easily or get let loose when someone forgets their cage is open.

I doubt the owner will get them back. They seemed very wild, very wary of me, and they flew off across the street when the White-winged doves were spooked by something.

I'm editing to add a note to confused people in the US -- I just checked online because I thought a parakeet and a budgie were the same thing. While Resin is, of course right, it's budgerigar, and Wallaby is also right that it's common name is budgie, in the USA, budgies are usually called parakeets. Parakeet, however, can be used to refer to any small parrot and really we should call them budgies. If you go into a pet store here, though, they will be labeled as parakeets.

Thanks Elphaba. Here's another shot I took this afternoon. I'm kinda surprised that I managed it. Yes, your parakeet is a budgerigar or budgie. They are native to Australia, but only come in a green colour in their natural state. The different colours and larger sizes are a result of selective breeding.
Love your ducks, Burn. Ducks are such lovely birds.
Gosh, Methodical, the swans are spectacular. Are they in your local area?
Nanny love the American Robin with tucker. They have such a proud, upright stance.
