Let me join in and flash a bloom or two here...

These have never bloomed this late in summer but were kind enough to share a couple of blooms this week.

I smelled these before I even saw a bloom stalk... They are intoxicating!

First bloom on the gifted Texas Senna ! Thank you Placenciarita!!! 8 ))

My Yellow Evening Primrose pales in comparison to that senna bloom, but I look forward to seeing them. This was the first year to have these, not sure where they came from but glad they did.

Sheila you may have gotten them from me, i gave some of those plants to a few people.

Somehow that shade of yellow is appropriate with the name 'evening' primrose. The evening primrose is lovely, your photo looks like a cottage garden setting.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Josephine, I bet you are right. I get so many neat things from you!

Red Oak, TX

podster, you are very welcome. I love your lily picture, I have a clump of those that I divided earlier this spring. I hope they bloom and wish I knew their name.
I love anything that blooms this time of year. Thanks for showing the evening primrose, very pretty picture Sheila W.

This one has shared its' generous blooms with the hummers nonstop since I planted it. Odd how it blooms freely but really hasn't grown much.

Placenciarita.... What is the vibrant yellow you have?
Podster....My Firecracker bush is doing the opposite! Growing like crazy but no blooms yet....go figure.

Shelia_FW, good morning, the plant is a Yellow Butterfly Vine (Mascagnia macroptera)

Just posted photos on datura forum on some of my dats. I have dial-up and it is so slow to load. Trying to spread photos around on different forums. Look for others on tropicals tomorrow.

Susie2 ~ in the ginger photo, is that an old cast iron stove with plants growing out of it? That is too cute. The plant looks purple, what is it?

Do you know the name of the lily/crinum you posted first? Sure favors the one I have.

Very pretty photos... so glad you received some rain!

Brazoria, TX(Zone 9b)

I'm not very good with names due to CRS but yes that is an old cast iron stove. DH was going to repair it for heat but changed his mind, so............I wanted it . I have 3 potted plants in it. The plant you see is purple striped and what I call wandering jew.
No, I really don't know the name of the crinum but yes it does look exactly like the one you have. I know that I really should know the names of all I have but just try to teach new tricks to o...d.... I feel good just to know the common names.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL ~ I understand, Sometimers disease here, sometimes I can remember and sometimes I can't! I do love the cast iron stove idea ~ pretty neat!

The Red Spider Lily came back up and celebrated the rain/slightly lower temps that came recently by flowering. I didn't have as much rainfall as some in Bexar or Bandera Co., but still it's been been nice.

Oh how pretty. Spider lilies always seem to be the last kiss of summer. Seems early...

And the Sweet Autumn Clematis is showing off. One day I was going in the back door and noticed white petals on the ground...those was from the ones that climbed up to the tree over the roof. These were on a high trellis, so I got up on a ladder. I'm getting too old for this....

But what a beautiful picture!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I believe this is Bracted Passionflower, Passiflora affinis. This year there weren't very many Gulf Fritillary butterflies, so it actually got to bloom instead of being eaten by caterpillars!

Lovely pics. With the rain and early fall, soon we will be having a real show.
Broncbuster, I would love to have some Gallardia aristata seeds if you still have some. I tried last year but ended up mothering ragweed instead. I can send you a SASE. Any chance that you are coming to Arlington RU?

Red Oak, TX

Lovely pictures everyone. I bought yellow and pink spider lilies last week. I have never seen those colors before.
I have nothing new and exciteing today, just a few of the same old reliable ones blooming again, like this Senna.

Good morning

I thought it strange when one day no Lindheimer's Senna was blooming on my property, the next morning several on the front of the property and one in the yard started blooming at the same time. Is there some mysterious communication going on, I wonder? And check out that big old preying mantis. Bet that's the same one I chased away from the hummingbird feeder a while back. They can prey upon the hummers, did you know that?

Thumbnail by LindaTX8
Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

They sure can, and they also prey on caterpillars and butterflies. The senna are host plants of several butterflies, mainly in the sulfur family. So he needs to be run away from there too! LOL!
