Morning Glories 2008 # 14

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Nice blooms Lili.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Joseph - The Asuka version with the white edge looks nicer (to me ) than the all solid type ...

The Blue Silks are Excellent (!)...

The one here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5452376
looks like it may have some secondary ribs...when these develop they help to hold up the corolla and tend to prevent it from flopping too much...

Perhaps you could capture a rear view of the corolla to see if it is sporting any secondary ribs...these would look like a thickening of the tissue along the outer side of the corolla secondary folds...

TTY,...

Ron

P.S. Are You (!) one of these..(!)

I often go to Longwood Gardens, and have yet to snitch seeds. I would hate to be banished from that Garden of Eden. LOL

I will try to get a photo of the reverse side of the Blue Silk corolla; that particular form didn't make a flower today.

Here is what Asagiri is "supposed" to look like, based on the foil seed packet. I kinda like the variants better.

Asuka also makes a blizzard flower form, although not too frequently.

Dainagon made a couple small tube flags. Nice nice.

Thumbnail by

Akatsuki no Hikari is my wife's favorite.

Thumbnail by

Such a big reverse tube on a small flower.

Thumbnail by

Shikonoko pictured here is one of my faves this year. Each flower looks just like this one, vivid red speckles.

Thumbnail by

Here is the Asuka picotee again. I need to isolate this vine or tag the flowers.

Thumbnail by

Akatsuki no Murasaki is one for the purple lovers...the flower looks like velvet.

Thumbnail by

This one would be really awesome if it had a bigger flower.

Thumbnail by

Fujishibori makes a spectacular show in the morning. Another of my faves...I just have to grow this one every year.

Lili, Cameo Elegance and Heavenly Blue are beauties aren't they? I admire how variegated the Cameo Elegance leaves are, and how deep a blue is the HB flower.

All beauties Joseph!! I have the small blue one too and was a bit disappointed in the size.

Ronnie, thanks! That flower looks just like what I am growing. Mine is the fertile vine of the blue willow dianthus JMG I bought on eBay from Tasteeclectict. Is that vendor where you got your seeds too?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Joseph I just checked my label and it is willow dianthus from Antoinette (gourd)

Here is a blue that came from you...I love it!

This is an unknown purple from last years seeds.

Joseph - The Asuka here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/Gerris2_1219503162_164.jpg
is very attractive and would still be a blizzard IMHO...I don't recall ever seeing a flaked nil...Kyushu may have one...

The Fuji Sibori here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/Gerris2_1219503861_727.jpg
looks to be a dark blue...

Is it Blue (?!)...

Ronnie - The flower you have here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5456770
may be small, but it has a nice glowing quality that it could certainly share with a larger flower if they were to be crossed...

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Dracula from A.

Wow, Gerris! Fujishibori and Shikonoko are incredible. I've never seen anything like that. Are they rare?

Ron, Thanks for the correction on the terminology, I corrected my posting. The color on Fujishibori picture is indeed true to what I saw this morning.

The Dracula, Ronnie, is truly a remarkable flower. Wow!

Joseph

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I believe this is being called Jamie Lynn Hige from Emma

Thumbnail by luvsgrtdanes

Lili, those 2 JMGs are rare in that they aren't available from most of the commercial vendors outside of eBay and DG. I got Fujishibori from Emma, and the Shikanoko from an eBay purchase from a vendor who no longer sells due to being banned from eBay.

Joseph, beautiful blooms this morning. I have to agree with Mrs Joseph, :-)
that the no Hikari is a beauty. Just something about a white bloom with the pretty colored eye. More refined and elegant perhaps. Yanks my string every time. lol
I love the blue shibori
Ronnie, gorgeous blooms, so happy that your Drac is blooming. I love your
unknown purple and your J. Lynn hige. The light bloom with the pink right above
Jamie Lynn hige is beautiful with it's delicate color. Didn't Emma call it a Jordin Rose sport?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Kackie, I don't remember what Emma crossed to get the JLH. I am sure she will let us know. I have a hige mix from her and was real pleased to see that one. Here is a purple out of the mix.

Joseph - I agree that your Shikonoko and Fujishibori are very special and rare! I think they are both just gorgeous! And your Asuka picotee is wonderful with that white border! Such lovely contrasting colors on all of them! I got a chuckle out of the big reverse tube on the small flower photo! Maybe it's petals are dreaming BIG! lol

Ronnie - Beautiful blooms! Great shot of Dracula!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Lovely purple hige Ronnie, great pic too.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Jackie and Becky

Gautier, MS

Beautiful blooms, Joseph and Ronnie!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I agree, beautiful blooms.
Here is a new one for me. I've been waiting for these to bloom.

Thanks Helena...
Pretty bloom holly nice clear photo!

I love these swirly type JMGs...this grew from beige colored seeds from a Shiborizaki JMG commercial foil packet.

Thumbnail by

This awesome flower came from the same Shiborizaki seed packet, only the seeds were dark colored, not beige.

Thumbnail by

Here is Asagiri, still making big flowers.

Thumbnail by

Ron, this Fujishibori is actually light purple, but it seems to photograph on the blue side.

Thumbnail by

This is an unidentified JMG cultivar that came from the Komeri vendor...at least 3 different forms from the vines I am growing from the pack that was supposed to be Shikanoko. I really like this one.

Thumbnail by

My Q751 vines are going into flowering hyperdrive...some are of this form...

Thumbnail by

and some with fewer spots, but just as nice IMHO.

Thumbnail by

Another one of Akatsuki no Mai.

Thumbnail by

This flower was a larger sized Dai than the previous flowers. I have noticed the flowers of the vines that started flowering up first are making smaller sized flowers. Have any of you noticed this on your vines?
