My Forsythia Kumsom is blooming in August! But didn't bloom in the spring. It looks like the plant on the label but doesn't bloom like it. Is it another plant in disguise?
I look forward to your responses.
Forsythia 'Kumson'
Maybe someone changed the label in the store you got it from, lots of folks remove labels to read them and then just pock them in any old place, maybe the plant is still young and has not yet been able to sort it's self out, maybe it is NOT the same type of plant you thought you bought, there could be many ways to look at it, I have a few Rhododendrons starting to flower AGAIN this late in the season, I can only put it down to so much Rainfall that next years buds have swelled and matured ahead of what nature Say's it should, but I will enjoy them, BUT, will they have time to make new buds for next spring, will watch this space. If you got the plant local, try talking to the shop to find out if there is others who have the same early/late flowering. good luck. WeeNel.
Can you post a picture? But if it looks like the label and the label looks like a forsythia it could be that it got fooled into putting out some blooms in the fall, some spring flowering shrubs will do that. If it was newly planted last year or this spring, then it could be it was still getting itself established in the spring and didn't bloom then (many shrubs will take a year off from blooming after they're planted or transplanted)
