am really looking forward to meeting those I haven't yet and getting to visit more with everyone
I know guys one minute I am in then I am out now crossing fingers I am back in. I will just have to wait and see. I am telling ya I might just have to get the rope out for the next one to ruin this for me.
well we'll hope you don't need the rope then ^_^
Hey Phyllis, I have to mess with your numbers LOL... I invited my 2 daughters and they accepted and plan to come with their DH's... Mine will be there also so you can count us as 6!!! They will be contributing for the BBQ also. This bring the count up to 40 or more, right?
Tia.. (I am huffing and puffing)... you don't want to make me mad now ..do you??LOL I sure hope you get everything straightened out, cause I really want to meet you!!
Me too!
Can yall stand it?!! Time is getting closer and closer.Seems like i've so many irons in the fire, the week in ETX will be great to rest, eat, meet friends and looking at plants and saying "It's Christmas." Nita is counting days too.
I mentioned on one of the other threads that I've heard from a friend in Tyler, the Smith county Master Gardeners are having their annual bulb sale the 11th. If we can find out where, might be a nice little side trip to make but no one i know has any idea where it's at.
I've been on a cleaning spree as well as digging up plants, also having puter problems and looking for a computer. Von (younger DD) and i decided to go to Walmarts, grocery shopping at midnight last nite. Got back at 4:30 AM. Yep we're the sane ones in the family.LOLOL!! But we do have fun.
Vickie
Tia, I've given up on hoping to meet you. Gotta bring out the big guns. Gonna say a prayer.
Vickie
I found it online in the master gardening column on the extension office site :-)

This year’s 11th annual Fall Gardening Conference and Heirloom Bulb Sale & Garden Expo is on October 11, at Marvin Methodist Church and Harvey Convention Center.
Please make a note that the Conference is in a new location for this year. It will be held in the Pirtle Hall of the Marvin United Methodist Church, 300 W. Erwin, in downtown Tyler. Entrance and free parking is on Elm Street. Doors open for registration at 7:30a.m. The conference is from 8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
Special conference speakers include Dr. Bill Welch’s “Garden Ideas from Near and Far” discussing perennials, bulbs, and roses, and locally renowned bulb hunter Chris Wiesinger proven advice on “Bulbs are the Best Investment.” A preview of the bulbs being offered with be given at the end of the Conference.
Following the Conference, the blub sale and expo is at the same location as last year, in Harvey Convention Center, 2000 W Front Street. The sale begins at 11:45 a.m., allowing conference participants plenty of time to make the short drive over to Harvey Hall. No bulbs will be sold prior to 11:45 a.m. and the sale will end at 3:00 p.m.
Thousands of hard-to-find bulbs will be available, including many types of daffodils, narcissus and jonquils, plus crinums (a large and diverse selection of these tough-as-nails bulbs), hardy gladiolus, rain lilies, spider lilies (Lycoris), summer snowflakes, surprise lilies, oxblood lilies, Chinese ground orchid (Bletilla), crocosmia, hardy amaryllis and an assortment of other unusual plants.
I emailed Keith Hansen the head of the extension office asking if there was a price list to go wtih the bulbs they are offering and he is forwarding it on the sale coordinator so if I hear back I'll let ya know .....I found several bulbs I would love to get my hands on but I have to be at the park
Hi all ...
the count of DGers coming that I have by posts so far is 18 not counting family members of guests.
the cost for the pavilion is $50 so if everyone ...meaning DGers would kindly bring $3 to give towards the pavilion cost that would take care of it.
And remember
Tyler State Park Pavilion #3
10am start time.
$3 entrance fee per person over 13 for the day unless you have a Texas State Park Pass.

Sounds good to me! It is getting close! I need to start gathering my plants and seeds together!
Hello all! One last reminder about door prizes. You can choose to bring one or not but you must bring one to get one. Crafts, gift baskets, seed baskets, bath goods, homemade foods, anything nice is acceptable, you don't have to spend alot. Just make it something nice that you would enjoy receiving. We will take a moment after lunch and gather together to pass them out. Can't wait to see you all! Karen
I'm working on one but can't promise i'll finish in time.
Will have to work hard to finish digging up plants.
Thanks for looking up the info on the bulb sale. I most likely wont go as i avoid downtown Tyler like the plague.I'm a big chicken when it comes to city driving.LOL
Vickie
Harvey hall is at the fair grounds and that is not downtown ..you would go around on the loop to Front and turn left on front and follow it down about 2 lights and your there but still it is a lil ways from the park
I am sure I will not be able to make it. I want to so very bad. Murpheys Law is in action here as we speak. Just when I think things are going in the right direction, all hades breaks out. 9 times out of 10 when I make plans this happens, so maybe next time just up and do it with out planning :) I will be thinking about you all next weekend every one have a great time.
I am with my sister last night and today, the bugger would not go to bed until well after 2 am and then the grandson wallered all over me. So about 3 hour of sleep, it sure will be a long day.
Hugs everyone.
mmm well ya know IF you have a chance to run away next saturday ...RUN to us and we'll let ya sleep at the park
lol ok thanks. RUN is what I would have to do. Just get in the truck and drive.
Thanks mibus, Saw Front st. and immediately thought "Down Town". One would think that at 68,i'd learn not to assume before reading on. Oh well makes life interesting!! LOLOLOL.
Tia, i definately vote you run away. By foot,By truck,by what ever.
I know, I'll make a side trip over to Tulsa and kidnap you and put you in the bedside table i'm taking to DD. No one would find you till you appeared in Tyler State Park.
Vickie
Hey Vickie I like your way of thinking you could do a drive by kidnapping LOL
Yep, I think a good kidnapping is in order...
hey now I AM ALL IN for the kidnapping. It just HAS got to GET better here.
Checking in here, it's been way too long :~(
Ken is coming home to be with us at RU. We'll be bringing Kathryn and Rudy and ?? Seems to me there's one other person. Kathryn came last Spring and then Rudy joined DG shortly after.
So in our group from this area:
Ken
Maggi
Kathryn
Rudy
Lorraine
(I think Lorraine is riding with us too.)
I am going to once again encourage EVERYONE to plan to make the trip here to tour the garden and DIG DIG DIG. We have lots of stuff that needs thinning. We also have probably close to 50 or 60 potted Brugmansia that need to go to new homes before the first good freeze. Any Brug that isn't already rooted and potted can be CUT CUT CUT so be sure to have a good container to transport all your cuttings home with you :~) We're talking some good stuff here, so don't miss out.
I have a number of perennial plants in pots - won't even try to list them here - that also need to go to good homes. I know what I need to start the Spring season here and would like to NOT have to dump the excess.
alrighty then I knew you were lurking someplace LOL.....I'm not sure if Darlene is going to make it with me or not but I knwo she is going to try so anything you might have the work grow well in the soil in Hawkins which is a clay with iron ore she says would help me get her started......I hope she can make it so she can see where your garden spot is as I tried explaining it to her and know I didn't tell her right LOL
Someone give me directions to Mia,s.
Maggie, Is it your garden we can dig in? LOL
Think i use to go thru Big Sandy on my way to Van: from Tyler
Have been having puter problems again. Still have'nt got a new one. I'm gonna put it off till i get back. If i have to will go next door and use DD,S
Vickie
I figure that everyone wanting to hit maggi's we will do a caravan from the park to her place after lunch when we are about done at the park....which usually ends up being around 2-3 ........so please eveyrone please help in making sure we have everything cleaned up before we leave LOL
How far is it to Maggi's from the park? I would love to caravan to her garden.
not far at all Jeanne! Prob less than 10 miles
mmm oh gee ya would ask that I know from my house which is on 2661 between 155 n 31 it took me about 45 min.
Yippee! not far at all. Count me in.
Not far at all and a pleasant drive.
I will try to round up ALL the digging/cutting implements around here. I will also TRY to get some boxes together as well as bags, etc.
Lorraine and I found the bright orange flexi-tags yesterday and I am pretty sure I have enough markers to do the job of tagging things.
I guess I should warn everyone that I have not done the cleanup I would have liked to have done. Puppies have chewed and torn up more stuff than I can count. Fortunately I placed the last pups at Canton on Sunday and now just have Lily Flower Bug (the runt).
Another warning: There are kittens here, cute little cuddly kittens. Also, cats - lots of 'em. Also, the adult Pyrenees that can be intimidating till you realize they are like marshmallows and just want love-em dove-ems. Not to mention some chickens, Call ducks and peafowl that run loose.
Our place has been described as a zoo in a botanical garden - LOL!
Maggie, you will have to post some pictures for us please. Your place sounds so nice.
LK
Maggi I love animals. The more the better. I worked for an animal hospital for several years. Most enjoyable job I ever had. Also the most physically demanding. Sometimes emotional too. I am looking forward to meeting your menagerie. Jeanne
Maggie, you're place sounds like home... no need to apologize... we all have "clean up" stuff left undone, I'm sure.
Linda Kay is coming to my house this weekend, and I am NOT apologizing for my house... it's a work in progress, and has that "lived in" look... with "clean up" stuffs EVERYWHERE...
So, Maggie... I'll just feel right at home at your place.
I've been out to Maggie's and well the kittens/cats don't stick around much for petting and the dogs may check you out but then go lay down or wander off else where they are no bother at all and very lovable.
My Mom always said, "If you come to my house, come to visit me, don't come to criticise my house keeping! My house is lived in, it is not a show place."
And that is how I feel, If I go to someones house, I don't expect a place for everything, and everyting in it's place.
Although that is what my Grandmother always said, but she never stuck too it. Granny was such a packrat. maybe that is where we get it from??? LOL
LK
LOL well living with 2 males makes it hard to clean and keep it clean as we all know but I can say my Dh does try to help out plus it gives him something to do he just doesn't do a through a job as I do LOL
