Garden Photos - Part 32
Thanks ngam, I just got Cinderella this year and it seems to be doing pretty well in the sea of blackspot. Lion's Rose is amazing. In one year it has grown into a huge bush when many of the others are struggling. It has had some blackspot, but much less than most of the others that are touted as 'disease resistant'.
Just for clarity...these are heathers (Callunas). The heaths (Ericas) are generally fall or winter bloomers. (at least the ones I have are)
Victor, glad to see you're putting the camera thru it's paces. Great butterflies!
Booj, love your 'Carmela'..I had a similar one that is only a memory now lol.
Thanks Jan. Actually I have an erica in bloom right now - it's a summer bloomer. I believe the calluna in booj's photo is not in bloom, but that is the wonderful foliage color. They usually bloom in spring.
Thanks Boojum and Grampapa for your answers. I have a heath that I received as a gift but it is a nice green color, can't wait to see it bloom again. Boojum I would love to "browse" for DLs with you some day, but I am tethered to the house pretty much 24/7 right now to take care of my mom, she is 95 and needs constant supervision. I will have to get some later season DLs If I can find a place for them. Also will keep an eye out for a spot for some fairytale roses. So many pretty plants and so little space to shove them into.
Pixie I really do like all your DLs but the deep dark colored ones always catch my eye. Nice.
When does your start, Jan. Mine has been in bloom for about six weeks already.
I love them too. Is there a Ricky??
For all you Ma people and mail order folks too. http://www.rockspray.com/main.htm their catalog is very pretty and informative. I got it because I am going to replant a slope garden next year.
I have ordered a lot from them in the past. I lost many to insufficient drainage, unfortunately.
never had luck with them, always froze out had to treat as an annual. Too expensive.Love them in someone elses garden.
My plants get winter kill if there's no snow cover. The tall ones do the worst. So like lavender, I don't count on them to be ground cover.
Hi folks! Gorgeous blooms to catch up on.
Boojum, you should be on the garden tour, simply stunning.
Brooklyngirl, I remember seeing your before shots and I have to say congrats on a job well done. I lived in the city for years and I know it can be a challenge just getting soil and supplies, let alone interesting plants.
I have a new bloom in my life. Little Veronica Leigh arrived on Friday. Had her out in the yard gardening today. 4 days old! Had DH planting Daylilies and Irises from DG Co-op that arrived while I was in the hospital.
Beautiful, Dyane. God Bless!
Thank you, Victor. A blessing indeed.
She is just precious, congratulations Dyane.
how sweet Dyane... congrats!
Congrats, Dyane! What a precious baby. So sweet.
Great pics, everyone. I don't know where everyone finds time to post these. I took pics last week that I've been wanting to post, but can't even find time to put them on my computer. Sometime soon, I hope. I am way behind on paperwork for my job. I love my job, but hate the paperwork.
I have seen some early fall color here in some of the red maples. Hate to see it coming so soon. I hope the summer lingers for awhile. I don't like winter much at all. Would like to be anyplace warm in the winter. I usually escape to Florida for a week at the end of January, beginning of Feb., to Marco Island. I get a free ticket and stay with a client/friend's mother, so cost is low. Right down the street from the beach, too. Love collecting shells.

Never too young to garden, Dyane ..... Way to go!! Many folk must be very proud.
Congratulations Dyane! Having her garden at 4 days old is impressive, but having YOU out there in four days is even more impressive!!
God bless you and all your happy blooms!
Oh Dyane she's beautiful!! Congrats, but please go slow!! (Mother hen stepping in here) I almost died after #5 for doing to much to soon so PLEASE take it slow!!
Yes - rest is in order, Dyane. Let DH be the exclusive gardener for a while.
What a cutie! Dyane, congrats(born on my daughter's b-day) , how big was she? And yes, please take it easy.
Good thing I noticed this thread I thought I had saved it to watch but guess not since I missed a couple days.
Great shots everyone, my son loves seeing all the bugs.
Thank you all for your kind words. I am taking it easy, I get to play landscape architect and direct the planting! Being out in the yard is very healing to me, I'm just ignoring the weeds and focusing on the blooms.
Jen, happy Bday to yours! Veronica weighed in at 7 lbs 5 oz and she was 19 1/2 inches long.
