Thought I'd start with a preview. This is from inside Acadia. This is red maple which sits in a beaver-created pond. The ranger believes the early color is due to the recent cool weather.
Garden Photos - Part 32
I hope the rangers are correct, Victor. We have a few maples beginning to turn here in my neck of the woods, too.
Good to have you back. You were missed, but I'll be you had tons of fun and have lots of stories to tell.
Ollie is so cute!!
Love the ‹(•¿•)›, Sherrie!
(I had to Copy & Paste to do that)
where did you go to Victor?
Thanks Candyce and Sherrie. I went to Acadia, Sherry. (Trying to keep my Sherries straight!)
lol, don't worry about it. I keep very few people straight. Acadia.... sounds interesting. I'll have to look that up some. the some of the vine maples here are starting to do a little changing as well, we're blaming it on the strange weather stressing them out. either way, I don't like it. Love the fall colors, but hate the fact that it means that winter is comes after it.
I should have said Acadia National Park in Maine, to be complete.
great time of year to be there!
Hello, my friends. It is me.
Did you suspect I'd been kidnapped by guerrilla warriors, abducted by probe-toting aliens or otherwise indisposed? Well, congratulate yourself on your powers of perception. All three have kept me from logging into DG, actually. But don't fret. Now I'm back.
Um...do you remember me?
Anyway, here are some updated pics on the garden. Can I say thank you enough for all of the advice you've offered? I think not. But thank you thank you thank you again. Y'all are the best.
Wow - looks fantastic, Kim! What a transformation. You should be proud.
ok, last one. veggie bed....sort of. still have some cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini and green beans. oh, and radishes just coming up. recently pulled a lot of the other plants out....throw in daylilies, and it's kinda full again. i'm better with flowers, i think....the farmer in me has yet to awaken.
also some o' my pop's cotton on the right. no blooms yet. not warm enough, he says. ah well. reminds me of home, anyway.
WOW Kim!!!!!! It's beautiful...take a bow, NO several bows!!
Surprisingly enough I remember the plot befor you transformed it.
What a joy and pleasure it must be to sit in your own creation.
You definatly deserve the prize for the best First Year Gardener.
Welcome back, Kim! Your first year gardens are gorgeous!! I am jealous!
I love Acadia. Been ages since I've been there, sigh. Lichens everywhere-and wild booberries. Did you go to Thuya Gardens? Best warbler walk I've ever been to was there.
Kim, Brooklyn girls don't say y'all so I'm guessing.......
Great job on your garden!!
If any of you were around the house when I was taking these pics, you may have done one of the following: Snarfed whatever you were drinking, wet yourself from laughing, laughed really loudly (and possibly snorted while laughing), or just walked away shaking your head. I was trying to get a close up of the flower in the post I just posted, and I spot something that moved, and...well, It MOVED, as in HOPPED/FLEW...
I swear, Paul came running out onto the deck and was like, "What the bleepity bleep is going on?" I screamed, jumped, turned, and tripped over an Earthbox caster, and landed on my ample rear.
This is a close up of the culprit.
Hee hee - well he is well camouflaged.
Guess I'll look more carefully at the blooms.
Very nice Hemo
I usually lop them off...I forgot why. I have, about 30'ish hosta all around my front porch, well, they are huge bumble bee magnets. Which, I am all about caring for our apian friends (not even sure if apian is a word or not...lol) but, when I'm dodging to run to the front door, that is whack a doodle. I might have to start "editing" the flower stalks...
Beautiful flower, Thom.
