Oh goodness I would for sure go broke there. And be loving it.

Lodi, United States

We are all living with CF bull's-eyes on our backs. No pity for Dusty--just take it like a chicken head.

LOL

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

You hush Miz Taynors!! Yer in this deep doodoo as bad as I am!!!

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

This is the Black Langshan...Says the Roos are HUGE at knee high and nearly 10 pounds..( who needs a turkey???) Hens are 7.5 pounds.. they are dual purpose for meat and dark brown eggs...What more do ya want??? LOL

I have been attacked by the CF!!! Worse than a pestering Mosquitoe!!!

he he he Dusty, you do have it bad. I would so take the turkeys and their chicks. I just got a pair last week.

Lodi, United States

Hey, Dusty. I've been wanting a Langshan too. Someone on DG said they had them and they were their favorite chickens--very good temperament. Suppose to have been used to create Australorps, Jersey Giants, Marans, Barnevelders, Faverolles, and even Orpingtons--and they lay very dark brown eggs. Go for it!:0)

Ehehehe . Me ? hush ?
They must have huge eggs ? !! like an ostrich LOL
Hmmm Me is thinking ......... Me get chickens , me put in Dustys brooder house :) hmmmm.......me and Dusty get big eggs to eat. hmmm....... me still thinking...... OH forgot Dh would kill me !!! if i get chickens right now LOL Hmmm..... me thinks he is in China and would take him a looooong time to get here to tell me No ? ..... "as if i would listen " lol

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Yeppers... those and the Sumatrans too...I will figure out a way to divide the brooder and the pen so they can be together but not interbreed...and my Dominiques are the breeds of choice...and I will use the Doms for my eggs, and let most of the others hatch if they will, for meat and profit to sell them...Those puppies will pay for their own feed... ;-))

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Methinks we need a pen silly girl!!!!! Can't keep em locked up!!!!

I got a dog kennel ? lol and a bunch of 2x4 left over from the house ? hmmm me still thinking. LOLLLLL

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

What kinda dog Kennel????

the portable ones. like a cage with plastic . i am not realy good at descriptions. I have an igloo also LOL think the chickens would mind a dog house in the shape of an igloo ? :)

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

They don't need a house.. they have the brooder.. we need Fence out back for a pen for them...

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i can loan out my husband to build it for you.... i mean RENT him out of course.... come and get him and he is yours. feed and water him, and send me his wages LOL

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

LOL you gals are to funny. Sue and Dusty need to get together and get that pen built so they can eat FRESH eggs. My daughter was telling everyone last night the difference between a fresh egg and a store bought one. Cant wait until we have enough to feed the 5 of us, next week we will.

i have wood .. thats all i got . LOL :)
TF to funny LOL
hmmm might need a drive by at TSW ( tractor supply warehouse)
:)

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Tia....Taynor Sue and I only live 6 miles apart....I have that magnificently HUGE Brooder house, already set up for the chickens...There is Electric and fans and a propane line for gas out there...There is a swing up door for them to go out into a yard...All we need is the fencing and the posts and we are home free...Sue has some extra wood from her new house we can use to build nest boxes and a nice roost rack...Once the farmer gets the rest of his junk out of there, we will pretty much have the whole building...My DH has all of his tools and all of my gardening stuff in the right side front, but the whole back half is already ready to go...It has a cement floor, so will be very easy to clean...Once the farmer gets his cwap out of my 4 car garage, everything will be moved over there and we can easily house 50-75 birds in splendor in there...

If I get that job I applied for closer to home, I will have regular hours and be able to do a whole lot more around here, a whole lot quicker...I average between 55 and 65 hours a week now, and the new job will pay me the same amount for 40 hours!!! That gives me between 15 and 25 hours a week to play with CHICKENS!!! LOL

Oh gosh Dusty I would almost kill to have that set up. You are well on your way to them chickens calling that home.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

ooooh! never seen that side before. i could live in it and take care of your chickens while you are at work!

it is pwetty sweet . Isn't it .
if you get the job closer think of all the gas you'll save too !!
DS is sick today 102 fever bummer was going to look at chickens today too :(

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

When I first saw this farm way back in February, in a blinding snowstorm, I fell in love with it...and that brooder is very visible from the road... Waaaaaay down the road...LOL
I thought to myself if I could only find a place like that to call home, I would be in Heaven... cause I wanted chickens, a couple pigs, and a couple steer calves for meat...and here I am...Can't have any animals but the chickens until Farmer D is done with the outbuildings, and that is another year yet...That was part of the sale agreement...
I have to get another roll of fence for my dog yard before I can do chickens...and right now, that is just not gonna happen for a few more weeks until I can recover from a financial setback...
I hate it, but that is just the way it is....

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Yeppers Sue...That is also a major consideration... I am driving 108 miles a day round trip if I have my car instead of the Wheelie...I would rather work at McDonalds up here than do that if I can avoid it...Believe me, I am looking!!! Winter is fast approaching!!

What on earth *Bug* has bit DS??? Better watch it or DD will be down with it too!!

Ok cuz i m sloooooow in the head . Is farmer retiring ? and then selling to you ? . sorry to be so dense LOL i know you have explained it somewhere in another thread ? but like i said " i m a bit slooooooow in the head" :)

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh by the way, Dusty, I am sending you good thoughts so that you do get that 40 hr week job closer to home. Need that extra 15 hrs for them farm animals.

I also hope to get a couple feeder calfs and pigs. DH is all for the pigs, maybe we can get them in the spring.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Farmer D sold the whole kit and kaboodle 100 acres to Farmer J who has been his friend for 50 yrs....Farmer J only wanted the 80 acres of hay for his dairy cattle...None of his sons want anything to do with the house and barns, nor does he...The agreement was, that Farmer D has the use of the outbuildings and goat pastures for 2 yrs...There is just over a year to go....Farmer J is renting the house to us till that time is up, and then if we want, he will cut the front property off and sell it to us on Land Contract which will give us about 10-15 acres...We can rent out the steel barn to someone for hay storage or whatever once all of the goats are gone...and I can use the old barn for my varmints...If all goes well, that is what we will do...

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Tia....I appreciate it!! I would really love to have that job, as I know the ins and outs of it and have for 40 years...I have been doing it since 1973, until just a couple years ago when we moved up here to Ohio...

AAAhhh now i remember LOL
ok i got it :) thanks
what a great deal .
T&P with grandfather and sending smoke for that new job !!! for you Dusty.:)

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)
