thanks Kathy. It was more work getting hubby to do it than to have it finished. Still have some birds that refused to cooperate in the brooder and I need to move them but it is raining and sugar melts.
Chicken Chat # 3
Tia -
Awesome pen! Did I see some White Crested Black Polish in your first pic. I would love to have some of these. Are these the birds you are thinking of selling or are you keeping these?
Sheila
I am selling them. I will keep a trio of each kind, yes they are white crested black polish.
Great job L2G2!!! Now get to flipping and banding...
and they have great haridos too!
lol they are my hubbys favorite, he love the doo
Oh I am not going to band mine. I will know in time and then take the right steps to their future.
How many will you be selling and when???
Like I said , i am very interested and know how well you care for your birds. I love to get my birds from someone I know (or at least can chat with).
Sheila
I would have to check to see how to ship them.
my guess is they aren't old enough to ship until 16 weeks, then you will hve to do blood testing etc. real pain, just ask catscan...
however, if you are willing Sheila, i believe they can cross state lines younger than that with a copy of the NPIP papers... how far apart are you two? Check with you state animal health dept to be sure... shoot they may not even need that...
depends on what part of MO she is in. I am about 5 hrs from south east MO.
Tia,
I never have had any of the Polish ... loved the Silver Spangled Spitzhauben. They are all soooooo pretty with the hairdoos.
Kelly in Moxee
They are so loving also. They are the ones that always come up to me and let me pet them or pick them up.
gosh everyone is quiet today, its raining so I get to play in the house today.
Never thought about them being to young to ship. I don't know anything about our state regulations. Will have to do some checking. I am about 2 1/2 hours from Joplin, so about 7 1/2 hours from you. Maybe a road trip, HHHHHMMMMMMMM!
Sheila
hey we have talked about a road trip, I think it was you. but you got all them babies, that would be a fun trip...............NOTTTTTTTTTTTT been there done that all the way to alaska.
Yes all them babies. How quickly I forget. I think some days I have lost my mind. I guess today would be one of those days that I was thinking If I left food out for them they might get along okay (just joking!!!).
Okay lets rethink this chicken purchase. Do you ever get anywhere near MO???
Couldn't you both just drive 4 hours and meet in the middle?
I sometimes go to Kansas City....
Not really. Let me see what I am selling locally, I have 2 ladies coming out this week to buy some. Then I can get back to ya. I am horrible about getting to the post office. I could maybe send eggs as soon as they are really laying real good. Would be probably around christmas.
Now I could do that. Maybe the gas seems to be going down in price.
Or between you, you could maybe find people you know going in each other's direction and have an egg hand-off station...
ok but you would have to meet up with us also Mox.
I guess I can wait for eggs (pouting with my lip pooched out). That would probably work best for me also.
Just a little chickenitis trying to sneek in.
Sheila
Hmmm....looks like halfway between is about Joplin, MO. That's about 5.5 hours drive for me, and about 3.5 or so for each of you. Hmmm....but, it would mean I could visit KC and shop on my way home, if it was on a weekend. I would do that...specially if I got a chicken out of it! LOL!
awwwwwwwwww I wish i felt better at shipping live animals thru the mail. I am just fixing to start to be real busy here. Dont know if the GS will be in full time Kindergarten and if not if he will have mornings or afternoons, will hopefully find out tomorrow. And he starts Wednesday. Then his birthday coming up and then the chickens and the garden..........
If we did that we could all get a motel in Joplin and have a fun weekend. HMM wonder where we could keep the birds at while we were out on the town.
That would be a hoot! I'd leave DBF in charge of the chickens.
Yea but what about the birds I was bringing? We would have to find a babysitter for them.
The bath tub. Isn't that where all the house chickens stay????
I know the motel probably wouldn't mind. Can you imagine the look on the housekeepers face when she opened the door to clean the bath. ROTF
Sheila
Oh, well we could find a motel that allows pets and keep them in temporary kennels. I have a few dog kennels that I use for transport....I don't know how many you'd be bringing...
Yes I can see the maids face. I dont know how may I would be bringing. How many ya'll want.
I want about 2 white crested black polish and about 15 hens if you have them. Wopuldn't that be about right? 1 roo to seven or eight hens. What other breeds do you have, Tia?
Sheila
Yes, what do you have Tia!? Otherwise I wouldn't know what I wanted!! Bantams are my favorites, but I'm interested in the full size breeds too. Hens, not roos.
you sll made me laught, thanks!
sheila, why don't you ask the CF for a box full of chicks?
Wanna come to the Joplin Chicken Fest, TF?
Yep come on everyone.
Still raining. I hope them silly birds are under the roof of the coop. We went out last night and they all seemed to be bedded down. And no water was getting in there. I think we are going to go ahead and close up the east side so they can have some protection from the weather.
we would have to go to Tam's to use the shot gun. Probably no need in Joplin.
COME ON DOWN! THE MORE AMMO THE MERRIER!
