birdhouse gourds

hello i am a newbie to growing gourds and this web site so bear with me i started my seeds indoors and got 5 growths and now have
15 feets or so vines i have cut ends and are getting the male and female flowers did a lot of web surfing to learn all that now i am stuck
do the blooms stay on and become part of the gourd??

The flower petals will fall off but the ovary of the flower will become the actual gourd itself.

thank you i am really excited with this being my first year to grow they are so neat to watch develope i got my daughter in law into it out of my 5 i gave her 2 so i told her from them one of us we will get some gourds
i will keep watching i didn't know if i should remove the flower or let it go, do the gourds grow fast after the flower process?

i have grown it before. and i am surprised that walmart sells the seed.

anyway, some of the male flower will grow a little bit, then it will wilt. the female flowers will just die off by themselves. you can tell which is which just by looking, the male flower will have the little mini gourd. you can just cut the female flowers and dip it on top of the male flowers. or you can use a brush to do that, too.

the gourd grew really big, but in the end, it only produced two gourds.
