new raised bed against fence

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

We're planning to start a new lasagna bed along our back fence and I'm not sure if we should put stone edging between the new compost and the fence, or if it would be ok to just put the compost right against the fence and only put the stone edging on the front side of the bed? I should also mention that some of the area right next to the fence is starting to slope/deteriorate. So I figure we need to just build up those areas a little more with the compost??

I'm assuming your fence is wood? If it is and if what you're doing is going to raise the soil level so that there's soil in contact with the bottom of the fence I'd definitely put something between it and the soil, otherwise it'll rot a lot faster.

I Agree, put stone or landscape timbers back there. The timbers will last for years and by then you can decide if you still want the bed as is or if you want to change it. Thats what I did last year. After 10 years of timbers they had to go and I ended up increasing the size and shape of the bed.
