DAILY PICS VOL 131

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Time to start a new thread...we came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/887349/#new .

Not much going on in our area but still have the "usual" birds and will share a few of them.

The American Goldfinches are increasing in numbers lately and will start to change to winter plummage before we know it. In the meantime they are such a pretty yellow.

I think this one is a female but I am starting to have trouble distinguishing from the juvies!!

A Cardinal juvie...they look so funny with their feathers of many colors!

Thank you Rose; beautiful pics!

PERTH, Australia

Great shots, Rose. The Cardinals always seem to look into the camera. Mind you, if I was that gorgeous, I wouldn't mind being megapixelled either.
Australian Pelican from today.

Thanks Pelle and Margaret...the Cardinals seem to hear the click of the camera and always respond by turning their heads in every direction...sort of like a model would do! LOL!

Margaret...lovely pic of the Australian Pelican...I've never seen one colored like that and the water is just gorgeous!

This male Cardinal was too far away to hear the camera so no looks from him!

Very nice Nanny...you are the queen of birds! I wish my Woodpeckers would come back...haven't gotten a good look at one for a long time!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Ahh...Queen ...I hardly think so! I will settle for being a princess! lol

My Red-bellied's have disappeared again...

Marlton, NJ

Great pics nanny! Your so lucky to have so many woodpeckers!

Margaret, I love that Pelican!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Great pics everybody. I love that pelican too! Loved the cardinal pics and the house finch. My female cardinal disappeared, so daddy has been raising baby alone. He looks terrible! He looks worse than the juvi! His head is almost bald. He has bald patches all over his body, but he's been a very good daddy.

I looked out the window and saw what I think was a pine warbler on my patio furniture right by the window. He flew off before I could get the camera. I went out front and looked up in the trees. He was too high up and I didn't get a shot, but I saw a Downy Woodpecker, a hummingbird, a White-winged dove on her nest, and two chickadees! I should look up there more often.

Nice pic Elphaba! Heres a male Red-bellied Woodpecker

Now THAT is a nice picture! It's woodpecker day. I took some of the Downy, but they're not that great. I think my camera may be on its last legs. I hope it's just me!

PERTH, Australia

Thanks nanny, Rose, elphaba and pelletory. Lovely pics, nanny. Is it only the male Indigo Buntings that are that incredible colour?
Fabulous Cardinal, Rose.
pelletory, what a beautiful bird, the Woodpecker.
Welcome Swallow.

Yes only the male bunting turns that beautiful blue. Here is a pic of a female from 6th of July.

Nice ones everyone!

Elphaba...I haven't seen a Chickadee in weeks! I will be glad when they return...such a pretty little bird!

Nice Red-belly Pelle!!

Margaret...your Welcome Swallow looks like our Barn Swallow!

Nanny...our little female and juvie Indigo's haven't been to the feeders in ages!

Here is a Juvie Common Grackle!

OMG Rose, you mean I have a bird that you don't!!! I have a few chickadees, they are so cute.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL..Mrs. Ed...I haven't seen a Chickadee since late spring!! They were visiting the feeder everyday!!

Florence, MS(Zone 8b)

My juvenile male House Finches are beginning to get some red feathers. It seemed like the longest that they all looked the same.

Rose, I have' had a pair here for a while. lately. i love their calls.

Just want to say watch out, becasue I'm going out to a friends house in the country tomorrow and hope to have lots of bird pictures.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I had only seen Chickadees in the winter until I proclaimed in a very know-it-all way that we didn't have Chickadees in the summer and then voila! There they were to show me what a dunce I am! I love their calls too!

Frank, that juvi house finch is so pretty! What a great shot.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I know they are here, have seen them about. But they tend not to come to the feeders here during the summer. The fledglings come at first for several days. Same with the Titmouse. I assume there is enough natural food that they don't feel the need.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

As always, nice pics!

I got lucky and got a goldfinch, immature male rose-breasted grosbeak and a hummer all in the same picture!

The fun thing about these swirling feeders when they hang is that when a larger bird lands, it'll twirl. Here's the juvenile male grosbeak keeping his balance. And you can see it is a "he" by the rose feathers under his shoulders.

I always have some chickadees this time of year, they work on the sunflowers along with the finches.

PERTH, Australia

Thanks to all. Each and every pic is enhancing my knowledge.

I took this shot of an Osprey at the Swan River yesterday whilst trying out a new lens (that I must say I'm very happy with). I went back there today and another Osprey was in the exact same spot.

ooo, nice

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

the larger birds are so amazing!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nice shot Frank...I haven't seen a House Finch since spring but I remember them showing up with the Purple Finches early last fall.

Nanny...I also haven't seen or heard a Tufted Titmouse since spring. I think they are all up in the woods with the Chickadees...which I finally saw this morning!!

Evie..I didn't know those feeders worked that way...and I have Grosbeak envy!

Margaret...Wow...really nice shot!

Went to the upper field yesterday and spotted several birds...some I need ID on but here are a few I could ID.

Great Crested Flycatcher
