missing rosie: THAT is beautiful. really really beautfiul.
rosa: good! I have been looking since last night, but couldn't find it!
I think it is beautiful too. And, it helps me to be reminded of the answer to the 'Why' when I am missing'rosie' and feeling blue.
wow! this thread has received 1400 views in the past few days!!!
How about "It takes four seasons to know one year" ?
It took Four Seasons to know one Dawn.
I thought that was Tony Orlando.
Good one, Nance.
Wait, Frankie Valley and Tony Orlando?
Yes, it just dawned on me...
LOL you guys, its the moldy oldies attack again. Good one Victor. :)
Hey wait a mo, WHO'S moldy?????? We remember the best days there were in the past, which is why we can look forward to even best-er days ahead!!!! nyah nyah nyahnyahnyahnyha :-))))))))))))))))))))))))) Except I hated Tony Orlando and Dawn. That was my sister's generation. Mine was the real thing, you know, them hippiedippiedaysofsummer.....
SOOO! I am an old, and "moldy", lover of Tony Orlando and Dawn"!!!! I have their LP and play it every time I need motivation to clean the house.....YEAH!!! It invigorates me....
"Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me...????? Twice on the pipes--if the answer is "No!".....Or--"Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree"....
So far--NO ONE has knocked on my ceiling OR my pipes.......:o Ain't got no oak trees either...But..I still LOVE to do the Cha..Cha.....
I LOVE the old music!!!! You could sing along with almost all of the songs! They HAD melodies!!!! Nice ones!
Nowadays???? I can't even understand what they are talking about....
I still listen to "old" Tapes in my car--of all the lovely old music! Even in a couple of different languages--because I love the music so!!!! I can even (almost) sing along to some of them.....
Ahem--I am NOT "moldy"--but I am an "oldy"! I and NOT "outdated"! I an NOT "behind times"! My mind is forever young and so is my thinking! I am as "hip" as anyone!
I just like music the way it should be/was! THERE!!!!
ngam---
I don't know how old you are--but YOU will also be "there" one of these days.......What tunes will be going through YOUR head as you clean and vacuum the House and weed the garden????
Love this one...."Where have all the flowers gone? Long time passing...Where have all the flowers gone?...Long, time ago?"
How about "Tom Dooley"???
How about "Blueberry Hill"????
How about "That's Amore"????..or.."Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket"????
And--this is WAAAYYY old-----How about "Indian Love Call"????
or...."Harvest Moon"? ....
or...."Once there was a silly old ram"....Thought he's bust a hole in a Dam...No one could make that ram--scram---He kept butting that dam. "cause he had HIIIGH hopes----He had Hiiigh hopes...etc....."
How about "Now is the time---for us to say Good-Bye"......
OK! I better stop! LOVE them all! And YES!!!! Hey! I am still alive and kicking!!!
Gita
I know High Hopes from hearing it on Laverne & Shirley and I actually remember the Tony Orlando show. Sheesh I didn't think I was that old.
I remember when Gregorian Chant new on the scene.
Sue, I couldn't read the first one. Please don't tell me my eyes are getting that bad already.
Oh, sorry, Nance! First of all, I just have a cheap WalMart digital camera that doesn't take close-ups. (PlantLadyLin posted the same poem on a plaque up near the top of this thread.) It says:
"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
the song of the birds for mirth.
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
than any where else on earth.
Great thread! I've really enjoyed reading all of the sayings.
I don't have any sayings in my garden yet but this winter I'm going to have a piece of slate engraved with the simple phrase "Weeds Happen".
Gita: You GO gal! I don't think ngam meant any harm,; just young, hehe, doesn't know any better. And hey, you left out Spike Jones!!!!!!!
Thanks Sue! That is beautiful.
moirrigan,
I never take offense at off-hand comments.....Life's too short to be that sensitive!
Spike Jones? Must have been "Rock" or some similar music. Never listened to it--and never will.
I also DID NOT like Frank Sinatra. I DID like Perry Como and Dean Martin!
LOVED the few good songs by Fats Domino. I am sure there are many, many more--but I never much paid attention to WHO was singing any given song--only that I liked it!
I still don't.......
I absolutely LOVE Neil Diamond...(.."deep"...) and Tom Jones.....(sexxxxy!)....And ABBA...(peppy...)....!
What do I like from the more "current"..ahem.... singers???? Hmmmm.....
I Love the song "The Air That I Breathe" by the Hollies-------I live the song "Have you Ever, Ever Really Loved a Woman" by Bryan....???????......
Like I said--the artists do not impress me because of WHO they are--I pay more attention to the melodies and the words.....
Oldie ME....
Same here , I like a song because of what the words say or the beat of the song.
Randy Newman's --- "Short people got no Legs"
But I'm with Git on the golden moldy oldies.....had a heckuva time for a while, getting them replaced, on CDs, when my son got me a CD player (Some nonsense about 8-tracks and vinyl records being outdated)
Gita: Me too. Spike Jones goes way way back to WWII. Anyways, I LOVE Neil Diamond too! Have you got his newest album? I also love Gordon Lightfoot. Jackson Browne. I too, am a lyrics and melody type a' gal!
I am going to make a garden sign that I will put up for grabs on the markeplace: Here's the lines:
When I asked you to water the plants,
I didn't expect you to unzip your pants!
-M. Garofalo
I seem to remember someone was having that problem with their DH. :-)
Wish I'd ad that in Iowa!! My lilac would have been pretty on BOTH sides!
As I started reading this thread, I knew I had to go outside and copy down the words of the one in my garden which was in my grandmother's garden and then my aunt's and now mine. Well, as I continued reading I saw a round plaque and thought that it looked like mine and then I enlarged it and LO AND BEHOLD it was the same one I have. So, thank you primrose sue on post # 5446340 for having a picture and then writing the words in so I don't have to. It's located right at the front and center of my garden and my mom and I see it every time we sit on the bench.
This is a great thread.
jan
