plantladylin...that's a version I've not seen before. Very well done and yes the tears are rolling down my cheeks.

OK - I am not a sentimental person and plantladylin you owe me a box of tissues! Geesh!

(Zone 1)

Isn't it wonderful? I found that version many years ago and have seen a lot of different ones but that is still my favorite with the music.

For me it brings Happy Tears!

Its hard when your best friend is sitting next to you.

Fantastic thread! I love so many of these sayings. (still crying from the 'Rainbow Bridge'!)
My sister has one that says "Leave Room in your Garden for Fairies to Dance" I have been threatening to take it for years.

Craryville, NY

OMG plantladylin - that IS the best one I;ve seen. New kleenex, please.....sniffle

Holly--

Thank you so much for posting the Hyperlink to this Thread! I seem to only look at Treads that O am "watching"---and so miss so many other good ones.....

This is a good one! Also gives me some ideas.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?????

Been thinking of selling things on the "Marketplace".....mostly seeds--but now I know there is also an Arts and Crafts category!
If I showed you the quantity of my "self-gathered--from my own garden dried flowers that I make into lace potpourri balls--you would not believe it!!!! I gather and dry most of my blooms every year--and my Rubber Maid Tote is full--and I have enough for another one......
I can look through this volume of dried flowers and tell you what every petal is--because it came from MY GARDEN!!!!

I simply MUST expand my Horizons on DG--besides the Mid Atlantic and the Best and Worst Forums......WHY am I so stuck on only TWO?????

Thanks, Gita

(Zone 1)

Oh Gita, you must post some photo's of your hand made posies! I really like Potpourri balls ... I used to buy different herbs and oils and stuff from the San Francisco Herb Company years ago and mix my own potpourri. I think it's wonderful that you have a cutting garden and make your own! I bet you would sell quite a few on the Marketplace!

Betty: That is Beautiful! Did you make it? I know you are very crafty ... I remember seeing some of your work on another thread! I can't remember which thread it was though ... I was following some Christmas stuff a bunch of y'all were doing! Which forum was that on? Can you point me back in that direction? I would love to do something this fall/winter with y'all.

I have a (broken) resin Birdfeeder that has that very verse on it!

Plantlady--

Betty LIVES and BREATHES on the "Best and Worst and What did I learn" Forum-------Now on part #56.....

Good luck catching up-----It gathers about 150 Posts a week--mostly chit-chat......and then it moves on.....

Betty is an unbelievably talented woman who NEVER stops......All that she can do in 24 hours would take me months!

Betty is the most generous--giving--helpful soul I have ever "known".....

Running out of words to praise her......

That is--until I write the next one.......:o)

Oh I love that we have Maryland, Florida, Penn. and Ontario joining us here!!! The more the merrier!!!!! Ok give us some sayings, poems and quotes.......we love it!!

(This is my DD's favorite quote/ plaque)
"Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take, its measured by the number of moments that take your breath away."

Then she tells her co-workers that her Mom's garden will be one of those moments that will take your breath away. I love that girl!!

Pixie, how sweet :)) I LOVE this thread! I've been following along since the Willy first posted link on the MA forum. Sad to report that I don't have any poetry in my garden, but after all these wonderful ideas I'm going to have to start looking for some to add to the gardens! A dear friend gave me this plaque a couple of years ago after a miserable soggy spring season. Considering we're experiencing our second year of drought here, it's probably more appropriate for you NEers with all the rain you've received this summer!

Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

pixie,

That is one beautiful photo of the blue flower.....Ahem...PHOTO CONTEST is coming up--soon...

Years ago, I framed a collection of my own pressed flowers onto a large oval and calligraphied a short poem in the middle. The flowers are now all one color--all faded---but that small poem has lived vividly in my mind since. I made this frame the year I found a small framed poem somewhere in a craft sale. It had no author's name on it....
I just had to do something "special" with it. I have never heard of anyone else that has seen this "gem"....Now a few thousand will know it.....my pleasure to pass it on....
So--here it is:

COUNTING FLOWERS

When we start to count flowers,
We cease to count weeds.

When we start to count blessings,
We cease to count needs.

When we start to count laughter,
We cease to count tears.

When we count happy memories,
We cease to count tears.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Gita, thats a lovely poem and how true!

Morrigan, Love the one in post 5409880, can you tell me where you bought it? I would love to give one to my brother who lost his son to brain cancer several years ago.
Thanks, Jill

Very nice thread with some beautiful thoughts. I don't have any plaques or anything with poetry in my garden. I see the garden itself as poetry that would be impossible to top. I have a saying though. 'I cleanse my soul by 'washing' my hands in the soil'.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Not garden poetry but.
Victor, That reminds me of a saying from an equestrian friend of mine.
"The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man."

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Victor,

I don't have any plaques either in my garden--but i ALSO see my Garden as Poetry....And, in Spring when there is nothing in the bedsbut dirt--and then to have all the stuff come up and bloom--that is a MIRACLE!!!! Every bloom and every plant that can come from a tiny seed--that to is a MIRACLE!!! That is WHY I have written Poetry TO my Garden...

I do have a small neck pillow a friend once gave me--and on it is: "Gardening Tills the Soul"
YES! It does!

Rosa18: I believe I got it from a catalog...can't remember which one. I will look through the ones waiting for the recycling heap and see if I can find it for you, ok? If I can't find it, I can make you one if you like, to go into the garden OR, to be kept inside the home. But let me look first...

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I bought this one in honor of my folks... Not really garden poetry, but it's "planted" where I see it daily!

For those who remember the public service announcements - Weeding is Fundamental!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sequee--That was very "deep".....I LOVE "deep" stuff!!!!

That made me remember a framed poster I once saw in an office somewhere. It had such a deep, impact on me. It had such a "massive" message--but you would have to be quite introspective to "get it".....Kind of like the "meaning of the caption"....the meaning of what it implied re life in general.....

The picture was of a woodsy, shaded spot--maybe under some brush or overgrowth--and there, in the mossy undergrowth was this ONE little plant with a lovely, purple bloom on it.

The caption simply said: "BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED"......

I have never forgotten that poster or that "message"....

Gita

Sun City, AZ(Zone 9b)

If we're gonna get "deep" --- maybe I should hang one on the gate --- "Patience --- God's not finished with me yet"

It's real apparent back there, that NOTHING's finished!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

slatwood----YES! I have seen that one also......

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

He he he... I like that one slatwood.

(GayLynn) Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I like those slatwood and victor! Tee hee! Very Clever.

This will grace Rosie's resting place in our garden - I hope to have it completed in the fall when it cools down some.

And God who gives his mercies, takes his mercies.
And God who gives the beginning, gives the end.
I dread my death, but 'tis the end of curses;
A rest for broken things too broke to mend
