Share Your Garden Poetry

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Would anyone like to share their garden's poetry with us.

I especially like the old-fashioned cast type.

Here is one to start us off.

I only have one plaque saying right now and it was given to me from my dear nieghbor for my grand daughter's memorial garden when we lost her in Mar. I love these sayings in the garden. Thanks for starting this thread bet we have a lot out there. BEV

I too, only have one at the moment which many of you have seen, but I'll run it here anyway. It is for the memorial pond(to-be) and garden area for all our furbabies lost in the 2007 fire.

What a great idea for a thread. I love garden art and garden statuary and garden signs.

This one is my favorite:

Another one sitting in the yard, this one is made out of resin

I have a few of these little ones that were cheap things from a catalog years ago. Very faded from the sun

"Memories are the sweetest flowers in the garden"

another

"Scatter seeds of happiness wherever you may go"

Another of my all time favorites, hand painted by our own DG'er "Betterbloom". I sent her bulbs in a trade and a check to help cover postage as this is a cement block and very, very heavy. This sweet lady returned my check and would not accept postage. It cost @$35 to mail it from California to Florida because of the weight!

"Welcome to Our Garden"

Another little faded out sign that says "A garden is a friend you can visit any time"

Thumbnail by plantladylin
(Zone 1)

This sign was purchased from (if I remember correctly) Big Lots - probably not meant for the garden. It has faded a lot too but still hanging in a tree. One side says "Bless this Home" and this side says

"Life is Good"

(Zone 1)

This one is not in the garden but on my back deck

This is the side of my shed. There's a little sign hanging on the left that is made by the same DG'er "Betterbloom". I received it in a round robin swap and it says

"Gone To The Nursery, Be Back Someday!"

This is a little sign that was a gift from my niece. It sits on the brick wall in front of the house

Ok ... last one for me

"Welcome to my Garden"

This is the only sign besides a welcome sign in my garden. It is more plea than poetry. :)

Oh, now I love that one!

My favorite saying is no longer readable and needs to be repainted so I won't post a picture. I will tell you what it says....I have it on my home page!

"In a corner of my garden, where the wildflowers grow,
I sit and I admire how God has graced us so."

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

I keep meaning to paint this on a board/s one day and put around the garden .It had special meaning to me after some clod hopping tree maintenance guys trampled several plants

My DH backed over my iris and DL's one spring with his

This looks like a book open to this page and lay's in one of my beds.

Holly -that one on post 5410981 is just beautiful( brought tears to my eyes), the one before it is just too funny.
Patti-I have that "free weeds" one on a painted sign that needs to be repainted so it's currently in my shed.
Plantlady- Don't you just LOVE Big Lots?
Right now all the ones I have out are welcome, and welcome to my garden

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Forgot to say-great thread topic, Willie.

(Zone 1)

Pixie: I love that verse and would love to have it etched or painted on a rock or a sign or something in my garden!

Fleurone: Now that is a cute verse, and so true!

Hollyann: I love those, especially that last one! I have one of the "open books" similar to yours that I bought at a nursery in Orlando a few years back. This picture is not real clear ... it's dark and raining out - I have it sitting on a table on my deck. I love the one you have with the birds. I think I will see if they have a website!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Morrigan are you going to sell them on the DG marketplace?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ha ha plantlady- guess we think alike.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Lin, I have one of Betterbloom's .

"Gone To The Nursery, Be Back Someday!"
It's one of my favorites.

Archer Milton Huntington "The Silver Gardens" is a beautiful poem. I just can't find a picture of if but will keep looking. I didn't find it doing a quick search either.

Craryville, NY

I never thought about selling them on DG Marketplace, but I will....if you guys would be interested...have you seen those plaques in the catalogs that say things like "I don't remember planting THIS" and other little pithy comments?

Craryville, NY

How about "I fought the lawn and weeds won"?

Craryville, NY

Yuk Yuk Yuk...me and my old man, we got a million of 'em! :-)

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Morrigan, I would be interested.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Me too especially the fairy one. My men are always going off the porch and I fuss to no avail. Would love to have a plaque like that with a double meaning.

Thanks for helping get this thread off to a flying start!!

I am glad y'all are interested in sharing your verses.
