I have access to a grapevine that is quite loaded with a green grape, but no one knows what kind it is or if it's to remain green or turn to something else. How will I be able to tell when these grapes are ripe if I don't know the variety?

unknown grapes
I've never grown grapes and really know nothing about them, but maybe a very simplistic solution would be to taste one?
take a pic of the leaves and grapes and maybe someone could id it here.
The way to know when grapes are ripe is that you'll come home some afternoon and the birds and critters will have picked the grapevine clean! LOL If it were a red grape I suspect you'd be starting to see some red coloration in the grapes by now, so yours is most likely a green one and it is harder to tell when those are ripe (besides waiting for the birds to let you know). A taste test certainly wouldn't hurt--I'd taste carefully just in case they haven't sweetened up much yet, but an unripe grape won't kill you.
I do need to get brave and just taste one. I haven't noticed bees, birds or anything else hanging around yet, so I'm thinking they still have some time to go, and our cool weather may be slowing things even more. I need to figure out how to get pictures on here. I have an older Kodak Easy Share, and they managed to make it remarkably hard to actually share your pictures with anyone as I can't get them into a file where I can put them in to anything other than their programs. I'm sure there's a way so I'll have to keep working. Thanks for your help.
Kathy
Kathy,
I also have a Kodak EasyShare and have the same problem too. I have Windows XP and what I've done is to take the photo I want to send and then "save as"... I usually "save as" to "my documents" file, because things are easy for me to find there. Make sure you give it a new "file name" that you can easily identify, instead of the numbers that are used in the EasyShare program, which makes it hard to identify a photo. When ready to send, click on the browse button, and when the screen opens, click on "my documents". Your photo should be listed there. Just click on it and you're done.
I hope the way I've written these instructions is understandable and works for you.

Sharon,
Thank you so much!!! I'm going out this morning to take a picture and try it. That sounds so simple. I will be eternally grateful if this gets my pictures to where I can use them.
Kathy
