What's this fly on my pear trees?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, wasn't sure where it fit in but I've been trying to identify this fly, which seems most interested in my pear trees. I thought apple maggot but it has a snout that seems different. Thanks for any help.

Just found my fly in bugfiles, looks like he's a picture-winged fly. Should have looked a little longer before posting!

In Missouri, we refer to this as a "deerfly." Known to bite if you're not careful.....
