Rudbeckia/black-eyed susans

Are Black-eyed susans Rudbeckia? Are Coneflowers? I am filling in some of my journal and not sure what to put as categories, subcategories. I have Blackeyed Susans, Hot Chocolate Rudbeckia, Green-eye/Prairie Sun Rudbeckia, Coneflowers. etc., are these all the same?

There are common names, like Black-eyed Susans.

And there are botanical names, like Rudbeckia.

Rudbeckia is the genus name, then they have a second name like Rudebeckia hirta, and they sometimes they are a variety name like 'Prairie Sun'.

Conflowers are Echinacea, Rudebeckia (your black eyed susans probably) and many other flowers have both common and botanical names. Takes time to learn the difference.

Wikipedia may help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botanical_name explain it better.
