Could anyone give me some idea of things to plant for a fall garden? Is now a good time to plant?
fall vegetables
seeds or transplants?
Both or either!
You have plenty of time, If heat and moisture allow you should still have time to get in some summer crops like squash and snap beans. Fall crops usually go in as soon as the soil temps drop enough for germination. Cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli can be started now in a cooler shady spot for transplanting in September - early October. Carrots, beets, kale, mustard, radishes, rutabagas, spinach and turnips are direct planted here September and October.
Ok, so are these vegetables that are harvested in the fall or planted in the fall for next year?
Harvested in late fall to early winter. Forgot the best, collards, transplanted in September - Harvest November through February.
