Madonna lillies. It is very tall, white flower gets on it,

Huntingdon, PA

I had flowers blooming which someone told me is a Madonna lily. I've checked on Dave's garden and can't find any info on it. Is there really a Madonna lily and if so, what care should I give it?

Madonna Lily
Lilium candidum

My hyperlinks never seem to work, but if you go to plant files and use the search for plants feature, you can then put the name in, they are listed there

Or if you can post a picture of your flower in the Plant & Tree Identification forum, someone can tell you what it is.

Your Madona Lily is under the heading Lilium Candidum, comes from the Asia area, can grow to about 4/5 feet and only needs planted about 2 inches under the soil unlike most lilies who prefere deeper planting, full sun, dont like disturbed after planting but will recover if you have to move it, these lilies have make new plants from basal roots more than bulb lets, sometime difficult to get growing but once it is established and is happy in the right spot, it really is wonderful, has a strong perfume to, the flowers are all white and only the pollen sacks have colour (yellow) for a tall large lily, the leaves are quite small and a paler colour of green, once established you can have about 10/12 flowers on a single stem. hope this helps you out, they are magnificent flowers and smell. good luck. I found 2 flowers that just started to bloom, they have no leaves, only a stem about 5 inches long and a pink flower that resembles a lilly on top. IS this a resurrection plant?
