Has anyone used this method of elimination of weeds in a large
area? How effective was it?

Eyes....I just started uncovering a bed to get it ready for fall planting yesterday. It works great for me! When we bought our house years ago, the garden had been planted intensively for 60 years and then the property became a rental....so everything was covered with morning glory (still fighting that battle), blackberry (still got them too!) and deadly nightshade. Although the yard is not huge it has been a lot of work to uncover it and there are always areas that I just don't get to in time...covering with black plastic (uncovered) or thick layers of newspaper or cardboard (covered with mulch) is what I do. Be sure to get the plastic removed before it breaks apart in the sun and blows all over the yard in messy annoying little pieces! Dee
