I am in need of some suggestions on planting a garden now. I am sure I need to plant winter veggies as I missed the Spring planting season. I live in Southern Cal and have had no lick with broccoli, brussel sprouts and cauliflower in the past. I have no idea what I did wrong, but someone told me they turned to seed and never developed the veggie I was looking for. Any suggestions as to what I could plant now and have a decent outcome?
Winter veggies
Hmm, in southern California, won't it stay hot enough that you could do a late planting of corn now? When the weather really cools off, you might try lettuce.

I planted a late garden two weeks ago, and I'm at 4200 feet, so my advice is go for it. Ontario stays above 40 most of the winter, I think? At the very worst you might have to throw a sheet of plastic over it.
As for what to plant, I did the Indian garden of corn, squash, and pole beans. Carrots ought to work too, and potatos.
Have fun!
