best time to water? morning or evening?
watering
If plants are in danger of dying from being too dry, anytime is better than letting them die. Nature doesn't follow any rules about day or night or morning or evening when she waters from the clouds. If your schedule calls for evening watering, do it then. But horticulturists will tell you that morning is preferable because there are plant diseases that thrive on humidity, and if you water in the morning, the moisture on the leaves and stems evaporates faster during the day than at night.
I live where the summer conditions can be almost desert-like, and morning waterings seem to carry the plants thru the entire day, but if I water at night, the plants are suffering by the next afternoon.
thanks for the info. we've always watered at nite and lately when I eat my pea pods they taste a bit moldy. then remembered something about watering in morning reduces mold and those kind of things. so thanks for confirming for me
Also, watering a night can make plants more susceptible to mold, fungus. You're also likely to get more mosquitos and bugs by watering at night. 'Course my schedule this summer has been so bad that I just have to make sure I get them watered. LOL!
