Growing a basil plant from its own seeds?

I have a large basil in my garden that I would like to regrow with the seeds/flowers that I have pinched from the tops of the plant. I would like to grow it indoors so that Ican have fresh basil during the winter months. My father who recently passed away would give me a basil plant every summer and I would like to keep it going. Thanks for any help.

Did you pinch the flowers off, or did you wait for it to go to seed? If you pinched it while it was still blooming then it probably didn't have a chance to form seeds yet.
