The hell strip between the sidewalk and street in front of our house is currently full of weeds (mainly black medick, shepard's purse, common plantain, and another short, unornamental weed whose name I forget) (and of course a bit of lawn grass that was planted at some point).
Even the weeds are struggling to survive.
Are there any plants that look pleasant, can survive shade, occasional foot traffic, frequent dog traffic, and having large numbers of garbage cans piled on it once a week?
Toronto is in USDA zone 5, Canadian zone 6.
Thanks in advance!
Any suggestions for shady hell strip?
You would probably get more accurate advice on the Canadian forum. Ground covers that are great in Mississippi or California would most likely be horrible in your "hell strip." I'd be hard pressed to name one that would survive the conditions you describe for where I live, much less where you live.
