I've got lots of ants this year, too, but mostly on my tomatoes. Don't have any peppers yet, though. I use a spray bottle full of water with a squirt of dish soap and some hot pepper sauce. It does have to be sprayed on them daily. So far this spray has worked on my eggplants, potatoes and tomatoes for keeping bugs away.

Thanks for your help. Do you think I could use this mixture on flowers too?

It can also be used on flowers and ornamental plants, bushes, trees. When using on vegetables, just be sure to rinse the produce well to remove any residue.

I've seen this "recipe" a number of places, and most say to use Dawn dish soap. Don't remember why. The bugs hate the hot pepper sauce and the soap helps it stick to the plants. But again, it has to be sprayed daily, and after a rain or watering. I strained enough hot sauce to fill a small mayo jar to keep in the fridge. I had 2 spray bottles clog up after going through just 1 bottle. I'm only on my second filling of this sprayer, so not sure if the straining helps or not.
