Chatty chat cock- a doodle- doooo

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh yes Christy they can be time consuming, I am actually looking forward to finishing one. I will probably machine quilt this one, mom is talking about getting a serger. That sure would make it so much more simple. I might even do it by hand just not sure yet.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Royal Palm Turkeys???? Are they good to have???? I might be able to get a pair, they will have to lay and hatch new turkeys? What about meat wise? This pair is a year old.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Actually this is what he has. What do ya think?

One pair of year old Royal Palm turkeys

Trio of adult Silver Phoenix

Gold Campines: Trio that are a year and half old plus two older Hens. Also eight or ten chicks of various age.

Two nine week old feather-legged Cuckoo Maran cockerals.

Four Welsummer/Rhode Island Red cross cockerals I might sell a few pullets too. Around four months old.

Three blue mixed breed hens. Two are buff with blue undertones. One is blue with a black neck.

One hen that looks like a black sex link, but she is not

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Wow, good thing that's not a local ad for me! I'd love the gold campines and the welsummer/RIR pullets. And the blue mixed breed hens. And maybe the silver phoenix if they are hens.

OK, I must face facts. I have a chicken addiction. That is all there is to it. I have never had any other kind of addictions - never tried smoking, never used any drugs, I like wine with dinner but I'm not an alcoholic, I don't understand what people enjoy about gambling because it's just not fun to me, and I only drink 1 cup of coffee a day. So I'm not usually prone to addictive behaviors! But now, this chicken thing, it's my vice! I am a chicken addict! I should call 1-800-OFF-CHIX.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i would take the royal palm turkeys in a heart beat

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Check out this chick for adoption at the California SPCA. It's a good thing I don't live there. What a cutie-pie!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

claire, what a cutie

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

The royal palms are so pretty!
On another note, my neighbor has started making small chicken coops in his garage and selling them on craigs list. Just a thought for extra income. Christy, perhaps you could check out ebay and see how well quilts sell. Christmas is coming and they would make great presents.

Sue :)

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

Lost one of my Pekins. :( I sold my Khakis to a neighbor and I still had the two Pekins that I bought from the feed store back in May. I put everyone together(chickies and ducks) which was working out fine. I tossed some halved grape tomatoes in as a snack for the chickens but I think this duck must have choked on one. She has no marks on her not even a ruffled feather. Her sibling seems so lost. Sad day.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

So sorry to hear that. I didn't know they could choke like that. Yikes. Maybe I should cut things smaller.

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

Thanks, I don't know if the skin on the tomato was too tough or maybe the tomato half slid down before she chewed? sigh. I'll start peeling the tomatoes. And quarter them. Or maybe the piggy will just get them.
Sue

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am going to take everything he has if he still has them............ just by you all's recommendations.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

The guy is giving me a price this evening for all. I do know he wants 25 for the turkey pair.???????????

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

ACK! I am SOOOOO envious of you L2G2!

(going off to sulk in the corner).

What does anyone think of this Craig's List posting that is local for me....?

http://desmoines.craigslist.org/grd/794533252.html

Lodi, United States

Hi Claire--I just posted my own Marans and Barnevelder roos on the Sacramento Craigslist for $5 each.

Those look like nice birds, but I know nothing about the breeds. I would set up a meeting and see if you can see how they are housed--although if it is a real breeder they shouldn't let you on site. At least without some sort of disinfection.

They misspelled "cockerel" but that really doesn't mean anything.

You have it bad, don't you?:0)

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

no chicks no chicks no chicks! well, Fresno CA is about a 3 hour drive for me... I think I'm safe :o)

Dear Chicken Fairy, please send me:

One pair of year old Royal Palm turkeys

Two Penedesencas

Trio of adult Silver Phoenix

Four little Nankins,

Five Golden Campines:

[And a partidge in a pear tree!]

with sincerity,
tamarafaye

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

lucky you, Josh!

Sue, sorry about your pekin. ours have satarted a nest of eggs. but this morning a GS came and ate our male pekin, and well as our mal muscovy... then it came back this evening for more, DH shot and missed!!! i am on my way out the door to sleep in the shed. our new dog had a deep, steady bark when it came last. hoping it doesn't rain all night again! maybe i will also get that coon! anyway, the tomato choke was tragic, hugs to you!

Claire, for four months old i think that is a little high priced. ask if she has health papers, and where the flocks parents originated. also visit the place. if she say things like you can't go in there, etc. then she may be a serious breeder with biosecurity and even NPIP certified. that would justify her prices. but if they are hatchery stock, i wouldn't give more than 10 each...

i will have frizzled cochin eggs for sale next year if you can wait that long...

btw, i am suspicious of "hen, possibly cockeral". she could wait another month and know for sure! "cockeral possibly hen" is a LITTLE more honest LOL... they look very cramped in there, and i wonder why she would be selling her BEST male. breeder NEVER do that...

i aint lucky the cf is gettin me by other methods cause i wont buy them

she knows i wont stop a broody chook

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

tf, would you put me on your waiting list for frissled cochin eggs?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am still waiting on him to give me a price. i looked up all them birds and I think the only ones I will not get is the mix roo's. I will take the trios and all the hens he wants to get rid of. He is our fearless leader on okies BYC, so I trust his birds to be healthy and his place clean. If the price is right I will be getting them Monday or Tuesday.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am so proud of my babies, they all went to bed without me having to chase any down last night.

I got them I got them, all for 105.00 and he will deliver. I think I am going to sell some of the crested and the frizzles, they just look really bad.

Royal Palm Turkeys (one pair)---

Gold Campine Trio (1 roo 2 hens)---

Siver Phoenix pair (one roo one hen)---

4 mixed laying hens-------------------

Welsummer/ Rhode Island Red cross cockerals

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

L2G, wish I lived closer, I would be happy with your crested and frizzles.

Thanks all for the input on the Craig's List ad. You all make good points and I'm glad I asked. I think I'll skip that one. I thought the whole hen/cockerel business was kind of weird too.

Our satellite internet went out last night. Not sure how long it'll take them to get it hooked up again. I can only connect from work now. :-(

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

awwwwww sorry to hear Claire, I sont do to much with craigs list you might try BYC in your area. If ya want I can dmail ya the link.

I would sure let ya have them if ya was closer.

Tam needs to get on here before monday, I know she wants some of mine. I need to know which ones so I dont sell them.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

sniff, TF can't have any more chickens for a while. gotta kill a coon and a dog and keep all their immune systems up with special forumlas to prevent more illness from the chemical "drift"...

now, i fyou would liek to TRADE...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

trade what? the ordeal you are going thru, Luv ya but no sorry do not want that at all. If the gun is fired I promise my hubby will not miss. In your situation there would be dead things all around me. And it would not be my birds.

Maybe you can tell me what kind of the birds you are wanting then I can get some eggs from them or hatch some chicks and send to ya. Next year that is.
Hugs.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i like your speckleds, whether they are silver laced polish or sptiz's... i only got one. and wondered if you got any nankins, i got two.. lost my black tailed white jap... still losing daily to secondary pneumonia from the spray... i am not trading or selling those. was thinking of my Jersey Giants you wanted...

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

tf, when i get my japs and they are big enough to lay i'll let you know

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yea for sure, I want the JG nankins......I will have to research that one. Ok on the silver laced and the spitz. I am gonna have to take pics of them again to see which ones they are now, they have changed so much.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

thanks all... i hate that my asst crested and bantams are still under lock down, and now the JGs too. it is for their own good, but doens't make me feel any better. a few of the laying puletts/asst bantams have gone also, more o fa failure to thrive after the spray, less respiratory, they likely got it from their outdoor run, bedding or water or feed, not a direct hit.. weird to see a bird that doesn't grow for two weeks, right next to its grwoing hatchmate... so those aren't for sale either. just gotta wait this out.

meanwhile my 125 hertiage layers are doing great. except they all went in one brooder to begine with, so i can't tell the differenece yet in the RCBrown Leghorns and the Welsummers, OOPS!

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

Oh TF. So sorry about your losses. Thanks for the hug-giving one right back.

Sue :)

Gate (Rochester), WA(Zone 7b)

K,still getting caught up since this weekend. A lot has been going on on everyones farms! Me, heat & life just got me. Feeling better now.

Very sorry to hear about everyones losses, both personal & livestock. This is horrible! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you... esp Christy. The next door, will be a better one for sure. Just a matter of when you see that door!

TF, what did you have to spray for? Know it is probably on another thread I haven't gotten to yet. Hope all is well.

I found tonight, that while I was 'under the heat' and I wasn't lookin cuz I just fed, watered & left, at least one peachick hatched! Thought I had another week! Have no idea if one of the hens are hiding more babies, or if this one was just laid & hatched earlier than the rest. India Blue, based on the brown coloring. Hope to get another black shouldered too. Mother Nature (CF?) in control here.

Too hot to sleep, so will 'read' more. lots of catching up to do!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)
