Seed Sprout Nursery Closing?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

What are the rules on sending brugmansia seeds to Australia?
Someone tried to get me to say what was wanted from me was something they were not.
Wanting to know what IS allowed, so next time I am asked to send brugmansia seeds to AU, I have it right.
Thanks.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

All brug seeds going to Oz must be marked "Brugmansia x Candida hybrid"
We all know this is nonsense.I label those I send that way and then add the cross. For instance:
Brugmansia x Candida hybrid
Dr.Seuss x Sweetheart

That's right ...thanks
chrissy ^_^

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I was told to send them as something else, which I would not.
Not that they are that either, but better :-)
Thanks for the info in event I am asked again I will know.

Hmm .. 'Sweetheart' is my hybrid though few know that .. lol
Thanks JT.

Alice,I consider 'Sweetheart' to be the best of all the white doubles that I grow.Of the seven or eight that I list now,all will be dropped from our lineup next spring except Sweetheart and 'Wretched Mess'.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, JT.
We have some new double whites coming out for 2009.
Except today one surprised me and is a triple :-)

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

sounds lovely Alice... can I sign up here and now for the triple white...do they all drop down.
Gordon .

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Gordon ...
I will show it somewhere as it drops. You have to know if you like it first .. lol
AND .. I haven't liked hijacking this thread as it belongs to someone else.
Certainly was not intended. I only replied on sending seeds to AU.
Jumping off now ..

mmm let me see a nice white ....good enough for you to send out... has triple blooms ..released on the heels of SweetHeart.. by a fine breeder.. what's not to like... grows 20' tall...and has hundreds of tacky spent flowers underneath..
Sorry... I.. in my joy did perhaps get into trade here... a no no ... ...I'll talk to you later there..

I have been reading the different threads concerning brugs for several weeks. I am growing a few brugs and today received the following seeds from Seedsprout : Painted Lady x Adeline, Miss B Havin x Seminole Moon (I am really excited to grow this one), Miss B Havin x Rubiline and Rubiline x Lady Liberty (another one I am siked about.

Seed Sprout will be/is sorely missed and I hope Brenda is able to come back to the brug community.

No one had the variety or plants or the unique seed crosses available from Brenda and every transaction with her was top notch.

You are missed Brenda.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I went to Brenda's site a while back and it said it ws under construction, or making changes, nothing about her shutting down.

I kept checking back, and forgot about it. Most of my doubles came from her the last few years.

Whenever I wanted some inspiration and something heavenly to look at I would go to that site ...beautifully done and really such a great guide in itself as to what goes with what to create a special plant ...golly I miss it. I have very many of her seedlings growing ...I hope she comes back soon ...I am sure everyone misses it like the blazes ...hurry back Brenda ...please.

Wahooooo! She has an Earth Angel in the auction. I just lost the one I purchased last year to a broadmite infestation. At least I think it was broadmite problem. I sprayed it with Avid. When the new growth started out clean and healthy, then thickened out and twisted, I began to suspect something else. I tried moving it to a different location, changed the soil, more fertilizer, less, more water, less water. I think I killed her by hovering over her too much. I want this one sooooo bad.

Chesapeake Beach, MD

I wonder if she is back of just selling off seeds she had collected and brugs she had rooted?

I did buy some seeds from the ebay site just now.

Hope she opens her online business back up, ebay is a pain.♥

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

neat Betty... are you going to bid.. I'll split it with you.. if you want to go in with me..we'll figure out how it can be done.. perhaps 60/40 or 75/25.. brick red... that's nice...
Gordon

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes, Gordon!. Count me in. I like the 60/40 rather than the 75/25. :-)

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

don't you just hate it when you can't see who's bidding against you LOL

wonder why ebay changed that so you dont' know who the other bidders are.

no worries, I won't bid against ya'll, I'm brug pooped out anyways. LOL

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes, it really helped to know. And then there are those that hire companies to bid for them in the last few seconds. You think you have it ... Rats! tou've lost again and you don't know to whom.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Now there ya go, getting us all into trouble again, just when we are all getting or planning what we are going to have to store for the winter!!!
She has some lovely plants and seed available. I hope she does well, and is back on DG real soon.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

well...not to worry Betty.. that's just what we'll do.. but you still have to have a bid over what is entered last.. or is stored with e-bay.. come to the end it's still about having the biggest investment it winning.. up on the table..

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

decided to dmail gordon instead of posting here,

Phil: oh my gosh... I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THAT ONE!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I am keeping my fingers crosses that it is going to be a super special one Paul .

Andersonville, TN

I've bought some of those 6" things... and worked like the devil to keep them. I had a source only 7 miles from me, but she closed up shop. To bad, a good 5 foot plant only cost $10.00 and they were beauties!

Thanks for the link, I've saved it and saved Brenda to my Ebay spot.

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 6b)
