Scaevola aemula 'Zig Zag' will they go to seed this fall??

Fairmont, WV

This is my first year for The Fan Flower/Scaevola aemula I love it.( the purple flower in the bottom pot ) Will I be able to get seeds from it this fall? I haven't seen any yet, or will I have to take cuttings off of it??
Thanks for your help. I love saving seeds from my plants each year.

These are very difficult to root from cuttings, from what I have been able to gather. Out of 4 I tried, one is alive, but it is very small. I think your best bet is to buy another plant next year. Have you had the pink? It's spectacular. Here in Texas, I have to water both twice a day this time of year, but they are in containers as yours are.

I purchased this plant in april this year and took cuttings off of it and dipped in root hormone and they rooted really easy. I just hate to take another plant in for the winter if I don't have too. I would love it if it does go to seed in fall.

I had one of these (different cultivar) at my old house and never saw any seeds and never had any babies pop up the following year. I wasn't specifically looking for seeds so I could have missed them though.

I'm glad you had good luck with cuttings. We may have waited until the weather was too hot. I did some Googling after reading your earlier posts, and one source said that rooting is best done in spring or fall. The consensus of the articles and blogs I read is that it's very difficult to propagate them from seed, even in Australia.

Many of them are sterile or don't come true from seed.It can be difficult to find the seed.I ran across this when I was trying to figure out how to propagate my white one.

Fan Flower/Scaevola aemula roots well when the weather is cool (50's night/70's day) and under a mist system.

That is a nice healthy Coleus, very nice display.
