Stupendous photos everyone! Those clematis are incredible! and all of you early risers: that's sometimes when I finally fall asleep! lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - this is certainly a 24/7 forum - with lots of insomniacs!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Bet that bench gets a lot of use, Bev.

Why sleep when you can post stellar plant pics?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

That is a big problem with the bench. I also have one made out of 2 big stumps with a marble top by my fish ponds but never have I time to sit on them!!!! BEV

Ok...I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it.

I finally got it!

I couldn't wait until the fall shipping began.

Here's a long convoluted story, and I'll try to make it short...lol. I do rescue/transport work for B.R.A.T. (Basenji Rescue and Transport)...I was transporting a Basenji (after picking him up from his home) to Harrisburg...this is where our friends live, the couple is expecting their first baby in 3 months and it's TWINS!...anyhow, Paul and I were down there, after the coordinator picked the dog up, we went to Doria's and Steve's and then went to the garden center that had the really nice looking Oxydendrums for sale, and I got one...WOOHOO...

Here it is, and it was $70...not bad for how tall (about 6' or so) and full that it is...

Nice shot, Bev!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats, Thom! Great price and it looks very full. Mine was not much taller and I paid way more.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

oooooo...I'm so excited about it...lol.

There are 2 plants (trees) that I want on my list next, trees I am very limited in planting do to the size of my lot...and with this my otherwise grandiose mind is firmly planted in reality. I can really only fit maybe 3-4 more trees in my back yard. I have the tri colored beach, I have the Oxydendrum. The next 3-4 that I'm looking at...the Jap. Weeping Katsura (can't find that anywhere, haven't tried online yet), and 'Forest Pansy' Red bud, I would much rather have a semi already large one (about 7' or so) so will buy that locally, but everyone is out of them at the moment. The other is 'Wolf Eyes' dogwood...that I might buy online.

Perennials I can go crazy with, especially DL's and Hosta, due to the fact of editing, but I am not about to start to edit trees, and shrubs...lol.

Here is a pic of a DL that opened up yesterday and today, I have no idea what it is...the plant tag (I planted it with the DL) is gone. It is diamond dusted a lot, the colors from the eye/throat area do reach onto the sepals, and wow is all I can say...the throat is a "parrot" green...really bright and vibrant!

I have both Forest Pansy and weeping katsura - they're both great. Katsura will get very large so mine is in a container. Other great small trees are Stewartia pseudocamellia, Franklinia and fringe trees.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Victor--I am not saying I have zone envy, but I am jealous...The National Arboretum had camelias in bloom, Oh my, they are stunning. They told me they are hardy to z6, and I could give it a try, and I'm like, no way...lol.

I have looked at the Stewartia, on several occasions...lol.

Did someone mention elephant ears? lol. I'm going to go take some updated pics of my monstrosities that I have growing.

For all of you wanting a "tropical" look...find and order (for next year) the Banana canna...Canna musafolia...I'll take pics of that one too!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I tried 'hardy' camellias and none survived. I love them too.

Here is a group shot (updated) of my small collection of EE.

oxydendrum and weeping katsura - where am i going to plant everything??

comgrats on the oxydendrum thom - you sent me to google it - an knowing vistor has the w. katsura - i need to hit the lottery!!

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

pixie, that sounds about right. I'm gonna have to go and label that pic now! I bought it from Oake's but I threw out the receipt from that particular order from them :-/

It's a beauty. And, it's one of the DL's I'm going to be moving in the fall. I'm going to be turning the front bed into a large hosta bed. Between the winter hazel, a few of the JM's, and the Contorted Filbert, I can do a lot more underplanting, especially around the Winterhazel (which grows like a weed.) I'm also going to need to relocate a rose, and a sm concrete trough...lol. Just a little bit.

lol....wha...I'm sure, if you are like me, you will find a place!

Thom, I got some Cannas from my old barber this year. I think this one will bloom orange. I love the leaves as much as the flowers.

WOWSIE!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Love those canna pics---and the clems---and the DL's ---and the hibiscus--did someone mention the lottery? On yest. news they showed someone from CT who won $20,000 two weeks ago, & hit a million this week! How lucky--how unfair! Victor, send that moth my way--this is the 1st year I haven't seen one. I need to fill in some bare areas--after weeding, there was nothing left in that shady section---tells you all the sad state of my gardens this year! Here is a bright OL.
