Does anyone else have the lavender moonflower flowering?

This picture does not show the true lavender color.

Ugh! I've been seeing those and pulling them out - or at least yanking the flowers off. Does salt make the slugs tastier? And toothpicks? Are they hors-d'oeuvre?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Victor haven't you heard of Ecargo!!!!!! However you spell it YUCKY

Craryville, NY

Ok you savages, I am adding the slugs to my memorial garden!

I don't know what kind of caterpillar, but I am going to look it up now. And yes, I had to bribe that gnome with Keebles cookies (rival factions) NOT to swat that 'pillar!

Craryville, NY

Ok, my suspicions are now confirmed - caterpillar in the previous photo IS a Monarch!!!!! This is him (her?) for those who missed previous posting.

Escargots are snails,different from sluggs.
Kind of cruel too they are cooked awith garlic and butter and served back in their shells.
I have never eaten them, just couldn't do it uggh
I must admit the sluggs were kinda pretty with a collar of darker brown spots.
Hope there aren't any slugg lovers lurking.

Craryville, NY

ge: I am heeeeeere :-))))))

Craryville, NY

nanegoat: what kind of grass IS that?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

LOL Morigan
I was sure you would be there.
I just cant make a pet out of or give shelter to such an ugly distructive thing.
Now don't you and Victor gang up on me and make me believe they turn into Princes when I kiss em.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

ge, I knew they were dif. Just getting Victor's goat!!! BEV LOL Morrigan , you are as bad as my one girlfriend. I can't even kill a fly. Sorry I do love what you are doing. There should be more people doing things like you do. BEV

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

If a Prince was guaranteed.

EEs are tropical, so I doubt they'd survive in the ground all winter.
I unpot mine & stick it in Mom's basement during the winter. I'd leave it in the pot but it's too big to haul next door (where Mom lives)
Here's a warning... the root system is MASSIVE!
The plant you have, Nance (and those who got some at the RU), is the great-great-great-grand child of the one pictured here-from 2004. The largest leaf on that was 20"x13".

Here's a pic of that same plant when I removed it from the pot that November.
Not an easy task, I might add.

Here's a close-up.
LOTS of roots!
They were a pretty pink!
LOL!

You all are too funny.

And I don't envy you, gabagoo!

I came by to post a couple pictures I took of the back yard (well, part of it) from my home office window. You can see where all the rudbeckia pictures came from! Of course, all my plantings are with this view in mind -- I spend many a minute taking a break enjoying the view.

And I'm far from done...I'll eventually fill it all in...some day!

I agree about the plan for the view.
Yours is such a nice break on a day in front of the computer.
I love looking down on the garden it helps to plan where the next plants will go.Same goes for the deck it overlooks the shae garden.
Looks like you have plenty of room for creating just about anything you want.
My west garden is under two bedroom windows
It's planted with lilies agastache, fern, hosta, ligularia, bears breech.
I also have a computer and desk in the room.
Right now it's pretty headdy with blooming lilies and butterflies all over the Agastache.
you can see both bedroom windows from this view

ge: If being ugly was a criteria for being loved, how many people in this world would be made pariahs? LOL. Everyone's gotta make a living, slugs too....

What I do hasn't anything to do with my rules for killing something. That goes a bit deeper, but probably comes from the same place - the heart. Anyway, there are always bug-hugger, tree-huggers, etc. lurking about...now don't get paranoid....:-))))))) I LOVe you all!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

morrigan - it's northern sea oats. I think it's beautiful.

Thanks for that info, Nancy. I'll move them to the cellar so I'm not disappointed in the spring. Maybe I'll start 'em early like Sherrie did.

My slugs must be invisible. I see holes on my hostas, but no creatures.

Eve and JoAnn - great yard shots!

Craryville, NY

I think they are beautiful too, Nanegoat! Thanks for the I.D.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nance - how long have you had the oats? Mine did not become a nuisance for a few years. Pretty yes, but it is awful to get rid of. Very fibrous, tough roots and it just keeps coming back and spreading if you leave any seeds. Slugs are usually active at night.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Only put it in this spring, Victor, so I guess I'll be singing that same tune in a couple years. It will be another of those live and learn experiences.

Like Sherrie and the MG's ( which I did last year).

Craryville, NY

Wow Victor...then I know alot of slug who walk on two feet....now THOSE I would throw salt on! teehee

Just cut the seed heads after you admire them for a while. Don't let them fall or you're in for it!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thank you, Victor. I will do that.

Forgot this shot yesterday. So many blooms this year on KK.

It's time to paint my Casablancas.
Worked at this todat, had to quit, too humid in the studio paint wouldn't dry.
I use a masking fluid to keep the white edges crisp.

Pixie and Candyce I hope you post as many beautiful lily pics as you can get.
Morrigan how lucky you have a monarch cat. Keep that gnome away.
Lots of pretty colorful shots Nan.
Pink roots, cute, who knew.
Nice garden shots JoAnn and Evie, lovely views.
Hate those little slimers too. Squish, sorry.
Northern sea oats very pretty, put on do not plant these list.
Victor your KK is just going strong and is really lovely.
JoAnn your lilies are going to be beautiful. Very talented people around here.
Andy I like that Canna, very exotic.
This is a shot of the newly planted ninebark "Coppertina'. Notice all the rocks. Used the larger ones to make a step down terrace retainer wall that is just barely visible on the right, as the garden does go down a slight slope., the rest are in a pile in back waiting for the rock bucket to come and take them away.

Nice photos---love your painting, Jo Ann, but not the slugs--uck! I don't believe I have many--never see any, & hostas are not eaten. I have my share of others, though! No pics today--have to watch the Mets--don't ask me why! LOL
