Meow....Crash has such a nice face... not scary at all... so cute!
Osee comes inside
Crash is quite handsome! I hope the kittens don't annoy him too much. :)
Crash is definitely going to get a work out with the new two. Can't wait to hear about it and see the pictures!
Osee is irresistible. Love male orange kitties!
Thank you, ladies. Yes, I hope they go easy on him. I'm hoping he's feeling fine and back to normal by then.
Crash is one hadnsome dude, Victor! If I were you, I'd ask for abdominal xrays pronto. I was a vet tech for 10 years, and still keep my hand busy with my rescue work (I can do all sorts of vet nursing at home). Do the xrays. ANd none of us can wait to see the pics of the new kittens! This is the ONLY kitty photo I have, though we have 14 cats in sanctuary right now - I'll have to get that camera busy. The cat here's name is Mr. Bigglesworth and the caption for the photo is "They call me Mr. Biggs"!
Don't get me wrong I like dogs too.
I traveled a lot duering the summer going to Juried Craft Shows with my pottery.
Its a good life, not much money, but I could have things my way, so Boarding in a kennel while I was on the road was too expensive.
I just never owned one.
Easier to ask th neighbor to look in on the cats.
Each living creature has its own personality, schickenlady! Even my hermit crab colony all have their own little personalities!
Hey everyone: I already have a book out from some years ago. I am launching work on a new one, and for this new book I need photos from between 1900-1975 of people/families with their dogs/cats. If anyone has these to share and could part with them for a time or forever, please send me an email at myspiritdogs@yahoo.com and we'll make arrangements. I would also LOVE the stories that go with them if you happen to know them! Just thought, wow, this is also a resource for photos that I never thought of! Many humble thanks.
what a sweet face
Candyce: That is a beatiful DL. Very funny on the name! LOL. I may print that out and hang it by his litter box! He is a very vain kitty.
ge: That's our Bridget. She's 11 years old, and one of the loves of our lives. We saved her from euthanasia and though she was a "problem" dog for the average person, she has come a gigantic distance, and is no problem at all for us. That's part of what we do here. I will tell her what you said, I know she'll appreciate it!
Cute Lab too.
My SIL Daughter#2 is director of local Humaine Society.
I could tell you stories.
Morri, here is my Labbie that we love and spoil and let him swim a bit too much. He has only one leg left in the back so I have to be careful that he doesn't expend himself too much. I let Casey out tonite to mingle with Osee. The cat snarled, spit, growled, swiped and generally thought it would be great fun to maim the dog. Casey screamed at one point but no damage was done.
Love the pic of your Labbie, aren't they great??
And so is Casey, she was slated for the pink needle of love just hours before I got her.
Beautiful cats and dogs everyone! Victor, I'll see if I can get some pics of the kittens tomorrow.
Harper
Now Casey knows just how good a friend Osee is going to be.
Love the name--- did I miss where you got it from?
oh they are so gorgeous... wish I could have more dogs... no kitties for me... I am afraid if they go outside ... cayotes in my area...
Nestle is not back yet... I think she is gone for good... so Cocoa is an only turtle child now!!!!
Soooo sorry about Nestle Kassia.
Sorry, Kass.
Awww, that's too bad Kassia.
Sorry can't get into the cat conversation with y'all. Give me a dog anyday.
Poor Cocoa and poor Kassia. You are missed Nestle! Please just come home.
Oh Kassia, that is so sad. Maybe Nestle has a boyfriend and they eloped. . .
I'm sorry Kassia. I hope Yankee is right.
Anyone seen this story?

Get out your Kleenex
This message was edited Aug 9, 2008 4:51 PM
ge: I had seen this before, but without music and far less extensive footage. You're right, the kleenex got a really good workout this time. Isn't it amazing?!
I had seen it on CNN and the short version also.
My sister sent thisone to me.
I posted it on another forum.
I think you were there where the Corgiewirehair mix puppies were lost?
My sister is extreemly skeptical of anything technical and visual because things can be faked these days but we believe it's genuine. 1970's bellbottoms and haircuts gave them away and you can't rehearse that lion.
Is your sister the one who found the corgiX dogs?
You COULD rehearse the lion, in fact. Come to think of it, they could have grown out their hair and found vintage jeans, etc. Come to think of THAT, I though it very strange that the Christian's bride, supposedly a completely wild lioness, would come that close to humans AND let them touch her....hmmmm, never thought of that before. It doesn't make it any less moving, though. And that one shot, where at first the young lion isn;t sure who they are, and then when he sees them, (or scents them) he begins running.....Best if in doubt to check it out on snopes.com
No my sister didn't find the dogs.
I have been hopeing she would join DG but no luck.
I don't live my life looking under the bed all the time,so Like you I appreciated it for what it was.
I'll check Snopes just in case
Yipppee the Christian the lion video is true.
Just checked snopes.com
Thank Goodness Osee isn't the size of Christian the lion. I'd never get him in the house.
I have to believe the utube video is real. How many men would dress like that to be viewed all over the world? And the haircuts to boot. It is one of the most touching videos. I had the opportunity once in my life to have a lion wrap his big arms around me and put his teeth on my neck. IT WAS SCARY!! He did not hurt me but,,,IT WAS SCARY..really..I cannot convey how SCARY it really was. The big cats rule. I did not want to be his lunch. whew..
Jeeze, Venu, I'm glad you weren't lunch!
U must have a low "freakout vibe".
Trust is a wonderful thing.
OMG Louise, how did you come to be that close to a lion? I see them in videos (I refuse to go to zoos) and I want to touch them. I know it's childish, but I imagine how thick their fur is, and big and ruff the tongue is; the power in those paws. I just want to curl up with one.
I had not thought about the huge teeth. Selective imagination!
Nance, why do you refuse to go to zoos? Just curious. My husband feels the same way.
We have a small zoo near us that is comprised of "reject" animals. Many of the animals were owned by people that thought it would be cool to own a bobcat or mountain lion, and then realize that they have a wild animal that they cannot care for. Sadly many of the animals were previously abused and/or neglected.
The man that ran the place was a friend of a friend and we had the chance for a personal tour. He had Bunky the lion. Bunky liked to bat bowling balls and watermelons around. The watermelons would end up perfectly sliced. Suddenly Bunky had me. Quite an adrenaline rush!
Popcorn Zoo? I've been meaning to get there.
Scary and cool, at the same time!
That's the one Jen!
Hey guys - I just checked on Snopes too, and IT IS TRUE - Christian the Lion and his once-hippie dads are reall!!!!! Hooray. It was too moving a video to discover it was fake....I'm too easy, I hadn'e even thought about it until ge mentioned it! :-))
I once had the opportunity to meet a White Bengal tiger up close and personal. I was petting his head when the trainer said, "oh, btw, be careful with him, he's dominant and just coming into his puberty"!!! I smiled and kept petting him until he got bored. It was an incredible experience though because you could just feel the power surging through that brain! And I don't think you'd even know it if one of these big cats killed you - it's be over before you had time to think "wow, that hurts!"
