Butterfly Weed/Milkweed ???

Plymouth, PA(Zone 5b)

Hello I was surfing the net tonight and found a site that lists Butterfly Weed as a Milkweed plant. Is this true ?

Checked and the answer is yes' Asclepias tuberosa
AKA(butterfly weed)

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

The nice thing is that the butterfly weed comes in nicer colors and is a more refined plant (smaller leaves) I love my orange plant and the white one "Ice Ballet". The pink one is OK also, but does not have the color impact in my garden as the other 2; also the orange is about 18" tall in my garden. I planted the Gay Butterfly plant seeds, but did not have much luck-the catalog showed plants from cream through dark orange. Maybe next year. Marcia

I did not realize the milkweed and the butterfly plant was the same thing....I do know that Monarch butterfly caterpillars absolutely love to eat milkweed.

Milkweed and Butterfly weed are both species of asclepias. There's many other species too ... and they're all loved by butterflies. http://www.monarchwatch.org/milkweed/guide/index.htm
