I've read that squash plants don't like to have their roots disturbed, but I am in the process of moving to a nearby city and my zucchini plants are doing so well I hate to leave them behind. Where I live now they (along with any other flowers I have planted that I don't dig up) will just be mowed over after I am gone.
Should I try to replant them at my new place or would it be time wasted and they would die anyway? If anyone has tried transplanting them before please let me know how it turned out.
Should I move mature zucchini plants to my new location?
I'd say it'll most likely depend on the size of the plants. How big are they?

Some are about 2 ft tall by about 3ft wide. Others aren't growing as big. I have 10 plants and have picked a dozen or so squash from them so far. I thought about taking a couple and planting just to see what happens since I have about a week of packing left. If they thrive, take more.... if they die, leave them to the mower.
Yep, why not give it a try. I suppose if you be sure to dig with a good amount of dirt on the root system (digging 10-12" from the main stem) you might have a chance. Their root system is sensitive so the less disturbance the better.
Hope you let us know how they do!

good luck
