Hello. I have posted this in the evergreen forum, but have had no luck with replies, sorry for the repeat if you have already seen this. I bought this cute little Rheingold Arborvitae at my local nursery. It had a couple of brown spots, but very small. Since planting it the areas have seem to have gotten worse. Is there something I should be doing to combat this?
Thanks!
Rheingold troubles
That problem is the reason our nursery doesn't carry them anymore. It's caused by humid weather and/or a lack of air circulation around the plant. I'd make sure that the weeds/plants I can see growing nearby are pulled back away from the Rheingold, make sure it's getting at least six hours of direct sunlight, and when you water it make sure not to wet the foliage. Go ahead and cut out the worst looking parts; they're not coming back. Hopefully, if you can get it to live through summer, it will be able to settle in and look better next year.
