My Cleome is growing and growing, and fell over in the rain.
If I cut back where the blooms are growing longer and longer, will they bloom again?
Can I cut back Cleome?
It depends on how long it's been blooming. Cleome is an annual, so if it's past it's peak bloom phase, it may just send up a few smaller flowers. But, it does reseed readily, so you can harvest new plants next year from the area where it's growing.
Try it and see. They tend to like dry sunny weather, though...your heavy rains right now may "do it in".
I cut it back and the rains came and came and it finally fell over. The roots were shallow I suppose. I cut it back some but it looked pretty knarly. . .. so I yanked it.
